IT Governance Challenges Driving COBIT 5 Demand in Costa Rica

    Tighter Financial-Sector Regulation

SUGEF 10-07 and CONASSIF 5-17 make IT governance and comprehensive risk management mandatory for Costa Rican banks and cooperatives, the exact discipline COBIT 5 is built to structure.

COBIT 5 builds governance and control knowledge

    Governance Gap in Shared Services

With 350+ multinationals running GBS and shared-services operations from Costa Rica, many run large IT estates without a strategy-aligned governance layer that COBIT 5 provides.

COBIT 5 aligns IT with enterprise strategy

    Rising Cyber and Data-Protection Pressure

The National Cybersecurity Strategy and the Personal Data Protection Law raise the bar on information governance, and employers need people who can map controls to a recognised framework.

    COBIT 5 strengthens information governance

    Scarce Certified Governance Talent

Costa Rica has a deep IT delivery pool but few credentialed IT governance and audit professionals, so a COBIT 5 Foundation credential helps holders stand out to hiring teams.

COBIT 5 makes certified professionals stand out

    Fragmented Control Frameworks

Firms juggle ITIL, ISO 27001, TOGAF and internal policies in isolation. COBIT 5 acts as an umbrella framework that consolidates them into a single, consistent governance model.

COBIT 5 integrates ITIL, ISO and TOGAF

    Strategy-To-IT Alignment Gap

As digital transformation accelerates, boards fund IT without clear links to strategy. The COBIT 5 goals cascade helps professionals connect stakeholder needs to the right IT priorities.

COBIT 5 Foundation is more than a credential. It gives IT teams a common governance framework that regulators and boards trust. Join the professionals closing Costa Rica's governance gap and start your journey today.

Is COBIT 5 Foundation worth it in Costa Rica?

COBIT 5 Foundation is the mandatory prerequisite for the higher levels of the scheme: COBIT 5 Implementation, which applies the governance improvement lifecycle, and COBIT 5 Assessor, which conducts formal process capability assessments.
