    What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

    It is an open-book, objective-testing examination based on the 2024 Assessor syllabus. Only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model are permitted. Questions require specialist analysis and professional judgement.

    How many questions are in the exam and how long is it?

    The exam has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for a total of 80 marks. You have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All eight questions are scored, covering the five Assessor topic areas.

    What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

    The pass mark is 50%. You must score 40 marks or more out of the 80 available to pass. Because it is open book, efficient navigation of the permitted references is essential under timed conditions.

    What are the prerequisites for the exam?

    COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required before you can sit the Assessor exam. COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended, and the Assessor exam assumes both Foundation and Implementation knowledge, which is not retaught in Assessor training.

    The training covers the five Assessor topic areas: Overview of COBIT 5 Process Assessment, the COBIT 5 PAM, Capability Levels and Attributes, Assessment Planning and Execution, and Evidence, Rating and Reporting, all at application and analysis level.

    What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM)?

    The PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess COBIT 5 process capability. It has two dimensions: the process dimension (the 37 COBIT 5 processes) and the capability dimension (six levels from 0 Incomplete to 5 Optimising).

    What are the six capability levels assessed?

    The six levels are Level 0 Incomplete, Level 1 Performed, Level 2 Managed, Level 3 Established, Level 4 Predictable and Level 5 Optimising. Each is assessed through the nine process attributes and a four-point rating scale.

    Do I need prior experience or knowledge?

    You must hold COBIT 5 Foundation, and Implementation knowledge is assumed. Practical experience in IT audit or governance assessment is strongly recommended, since the exam requires professional judgement in realistic assessment scenarios.

    How long is the training and what materials are provided?

    The programme runs for 16 hours, usually over two days, and covers all five topic areas. You receive aligned courseware, industry case studies, mock questions and open-book exam technique to help you prepare efficiently.
