What Is Kanban and How It Drives Flow at WorkUntitledA Visual Pull System for Any Team

Kanban is a visual, pull-based system for managing work, so nothing is produced or started until real demand signals for it. It began on Toyota's factory floor with Taiichi Ohno in the 1950s, where the word kanban means signboard or visual signal, and later reshaped how software, IT and service teams manage flow after David J. Anderson formalised knowledge-work Kanban. This instructor-led training gives professionals across Colombia a practical command of both sides of Kanban: the manufacturing pull system of kanban cards, supermarkets and just-in-time replenishment, and the agile Kanban board with work-in-progress limits and flow metrics. In one focused day you learn to visualise work, cap overload and move it faster from request to done. It suits production and operations managers, supply-chain and lean coordinators, agile coaches, IT and delivery leaders, and anyone responsible for the flow of work. Start building a skill that employers in Colombian tech, manufacturing, banking and logistics increasingly value, with Invensis Learning.

Market Pressures Fuelling Demand for Flow Skills in Colombia

Overloaded Teams in Growing Tech Firms

Colombia's nearshore software and GCC boom means teams juggle more work than they can finish. Kanban makes work visible and caps work in progress so delivery flows instead of stalling.

Kanban builds WIP-limit and flow skills

    Excess Inventory in Manufacturing

Food, beverage and consumer-goods plants face overproduction and stock piling up between process steps. Pull-based Kanban ties production to real demand and frees up trapped capital.

    Kanban builds pull-production skills

Slow Delivery in Banking and Fintech

Colombian banks and fintechs compete on speed to market. Flow metrics and work-in-progress limits shorten lead time and make delivery dates far more predictable.

    Kanban builds lead-time reduction skills

    Scarce Flow-Management Talent

The market is deep in developers and operators but thin in people who can design pull systems and run boards well. That gap makes proven Kanban skills genuinely rare.

Kanban makes flow skills stand out

    Supply-Chain and Cost Pressure

Logistics and materials teams are under pressure to hold less stock without starving production. Kanban replenishment links suppliers and lines to actual consumption.

    General

What is Kanban and who is this training for?

Kanban is a visual, pull-based system for managing work so nothing starts until real demand pulls it. This training suits production and operations managers, supply-chain and lean coordinators, agile coaches, Scrum Masters, and IT or delivery leaders across Colombia who manage the flow of work.

Is learning Kanban worth it in Colombia?

Yes. Kanban skills are valued across Colombian tech, manufacturing, banking and logistics, where employers want people who can visualise work, limit overload and shorten lead time. It is a practical, portable skill that maps to roles from Scrum Master to operations and continuous-improvement manager.

Does this cover both manufacturing and agile Kanban?

Yes. The course covers manufacturing Kanban from the Toyota Production System, including kanban cards, supermarkets, sizing and just-in-time pull, and agile Kanban for software, IT and services, including boards, WIP limits, flow metrics and Scrumban.

Do I need prior lean or agile experience?

No. There are no prerequisites. Some familiarity with lean or production is helpful for the manufacturing modules, but the course introduces every Kanban concept from first principles, so beginners and experienced practitioners both benefit.

    Who developed knowledge-work Kanban?

Manufacturing Kanban was developed by Taiichi Ohno at Toyota in the 1950s. Knowledge-work Kanban, used by software, IT and service teams, was later formalised by David J. Anderson, and the course grounds both in that origin.

Is the training good value for the outcome?

Yes. In one focused day you gain skills you can apply immediately to cut lead time, reduce inventory and improve delivery, whether in a factory, an agile team or a service queue. Request a quote to plan your training.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for this Kanban course?

No. This is a non-certification skills training course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on kanban design exercises, real-world case examples and group discussion during the one-day programme.

Do I get a certificate after the training?

Yes. You receive a certificate of completion from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme. It records your participation and the practical Kanban skills you have built, which apply immediately at work.

How is my learning checked during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply Kanban to realistic scenarios through design exercises such as kanban quantity calculation, loop design, board design and WIP-limit setting, so you practise the concepts as you learn them.

Will I be able to apply Kanban straight away?

Yes. The training is built around practice, so you leave able to size a kanban loop, design a board with WIP limits, and read flow metrics. Many learners apply these to their own workflows within the first week.

Is any prior qualification required to take part?

No qualification is required. The course is open to all and introduces Kanban from first principles, so anyone responsible for the flow of work in manufacturing, agile delivery, IT or services can take part.

What formats are available, online or classroom?

The training is available as online live virtual instructor-led sessions, in-person classroom training, and customised corporate onsite delivery for teams, so you can pick the format that fits your schedule and location in Colombia.

New public sessions run regularly, and corporate groups can be scheduled around your team's availability. See upcoming schedules or contact us to find the next session that suits you.
