What Is Kanban and How Does the System Work?UntitledFrom the Toyota Line to Agile Teams

Kanban is a visual, pull-based system for managing work, so a team produces or moves an item only when real downstream demand signals for it. Kanban training in Ivory Coast gives professionals across manufacturing, logistics, IT and services a practical grounding in how these signals control flow, cap work in progress and remove overproduction. The method began on the Toyota production line in the 1950s, where Taiichi Ohno used simple cards and supermarkets to run just-in-time (JIT) production. David J. Anderson later adapted the same principles for knowledge work, giving software, IT and service teams the Kanban board, WIP limits and flow metrics they use today. As Ivory Coast scales agro-processing, manufacturing and digital services from its Abidjan hub, employers need people who can make work visible and keep it flowing. This one-day programme suits production and operations managers, engineers, supply chain leads, Scrum Masters and IT managers. Learn Kanban with Invensis Learning and start applying it the next working day.

What You Gain from Practical Kanban SkillsOutcomes for People and Teams

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Kanban training helps professionals turn a busy, overloaded workflow into a smooth, visible flow of value. You learn to design kanban systems for manufacturing pull production and to run Kanban boards with WIP limits for knowledge work. Whether you manage a production line, a supply chain, an IT team or a service desk, the skills apply directly to the work you do every day in Ivory Coast.

If you want to deliver faster with less waste and clearer priorities, Kanban is one of the most practical methods you can learn. You leave able to visualise work, limit WIP, measure flow and improve from the evidence, not from opinion.

    • Make your team's workflow visible and easy to manage on a single board
    • Cut overproduction and excess work in progress by applying WIP limits
    • Size kanban loops and supermarkets for steady, just-in-time replenishment
    • Read lead time, cycle time and throughput to spot and clear bottlenecks
    • Apply Scrumban to blend Kanban flow with Scrum cadence on Agile teams

    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Kanban group training helps organisations across Ivory Coast build a consistent, evidence-based approach to managing work. Teams learn to make workflow visible, cap work in progress and measure flow so delivery becomes faster and more predictable. The training can be delivered for a factory, a warehouse, an IT function or a cross-functional group, using your own workflows in the exercises.

For organisations under pressure to do more with the same resources, Kanban creates a shared way of working that reduces waste and surfaces problems early. Senior teams gain a common language for prioritisation, flow and continuous improvement.

    • Standardise how teams visualise and manage work across sites

Market Forces Making Kanban Skills Valuable in Ivory Coast

    Overproduction and Excess Inventory

Agro-processing and manufacturing plants often build ahead of demand, tying up cash in inventory. Kanban replaces push scheduling with pull, so replenishment happens only against real withdrawal signals.

    Kanban builds pull-based, just-in-time skills

    Scaling Agro-Processing Value Chains

As cocoa, cashew, rubber and food processing move up the value chain, plants need steady, levelled flow. Kanban sizing and supermarkets keep production paced to demand as volumes grow.

Kanban builds flow and sizing skills

    Digital Transformation Backlogs

Telecoms, banks and IT teams in Abidjan juggle more requests than they can finish at once. Kanban boards and WIP limits cut multitasking waste and make delivery faster and more predictable.

Kanban builds board and WIP-limit skills

    Port and Supply Chain Pressure

Growth at the ports of Abidjan and San Pedro raises the stakes on inventory and replenishment. Kanban pull loops between suppliers, warehouses and lines smooth flow and reduce stockouts and pile-ups.

Kanban builds replenishment and flow skills

    Opinion-Based Improvement

Many teams improve by firefighting rather than evidence. Kanban flow metrics and the cumulative flow diagram show where work stalls, so changes are targeted at the real bottleneck.

    Kanban builds flow-metrics skills

    Shortage of Flow-Capable Talent

The market has many project doers but fewer people who can design and run pull systems. Practical Kanban skills make production, logistics and IT professionals rare and sought-after.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Kanban is a visual, pull-based method for managing work so items are produced or moved only when real demand signals for them. This one-day training suits production, operations, supply chain, IT and Agile professionals in Ivory Coast who want to make work visible and improve flow.

    General

What is Kanban and who is the training for?

Kanban is a visual, pull-based method for managing work so items are produced or moved only when real demand signals for them. This one-day training suits production, operations, supply chain, IT and Agile professionals in Ivory Coast who want to make work visible and improve flow.

Is Kanban training worth it for professionals in Ivory Coast?

Yes. As agro-processing, logistics, telecoms and IT scale from Abidjan, employers value people who can cut overproduction, limit work in progress and keep delivery flowing. The skills apply directly on the job, with no exam to sit.

    Where does Kanban come from?

Manufacturing Kanban began on the Toyota production line in the 1950s, developed by Taiichi Ohno to run just-in-time pull production. David J. Anderson later adapted the same principles for knowledge work, giving IT and service teams boards, WIP limits and flow metrics.

Do I need prior experience to attend?

No. There are no prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean or operations helps for the manufacturing modules, but the programme introduces every Kanban concept from first principles, so beginners and experienced professionals both benefit.

Does the course cover both manufacturing and Agile Kanban?

Yes. It covers manufacturing Kanban (production and withdrawal kanban, supermarkets, sizing and JIT) and knowledge-work Kanban (boards, WIP limits, flow metrics, the cumulative flow diagram and Scrumban), so the skills apply across sectors.

    Pricing

How much does Kanban training cost in Ivory Coast?

Fees vary by delivery format (live online, classroom or corporate on-site) and group size. Pricing for public and corporate sessions is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a quote tailored to your needs.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six Kanban modules, hands-on system-design exercises, courseware and learning resources, and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Request a quote for the exact inclusions.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer group and corporate pricing for teams trained together, with the programme tailored to your own workflows. Ask about corporate rates for a quote based on your team size and preferred format.

Are there any exam or certification fees?

No. Kanban training is a non-certification course, so there is no exam fee or awarding-body fee. You pay only the training fee for the delivery format you choose.

How do I pay and are instalments available?

We accept common payment methods, and instalment options may be available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for Kanban training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no exam. Learning is reinforced through hands-on kanban design exercises, real manufacturing and IT case examples, and group discussion during the one-day programme.

    Will I receive a certificate?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning after finishing the one-day programme. No formal certification is awarded by an external body, because this is a practical skills course rather than a credential.

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply Kanban to realistic scenarios through exercises such as kanban quantity calculation, loop design, board design, WIP-limit setting and reading a cumulative flow diagram.

    Is Kanban a recognised framework?

Yes. Kanban is recognised both as a core Lean manufacturing tool from the Toyota Production System and as an Agile framework for knowledge work, used alongside Scrum, SAFe and XP, and combined with Scrum as Scrumban.

Will the skills expire or need renewal?

No. Because there is no certification, there is nothing to renew. The Kanban skills you learn are immediately usable and do not expire, so you can keep applying and improving them at work.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the Kanban training?

You learn pull production and JIT, manufacturing Kanban design and sizing, Kanban boards and WIP limits, flow metrics and the cumulative flow diagram, Scrumban, and how to implement and sustain Kanban in manufacturing or knowledge work.

How long is the Kanban training?

The programme runs for one day (eight hours), covering all six Kanban modules with concept explanations, real-world case examples and hands-on design exercises throughout the day.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You practise push versus pull identification, kanban quantity calculation, kanban loop design for a manufacturing scenario, Kanban board design for an IT scenario, WIP-limit setting and cumulative flow diagram interpretation.

What tools does the course reference for Agile Kanban?

For knowledge-work Kanban, the course references digital board tools such as Jira, Trello and Azure DevOps, and shows how boards, WIP limits and flow metrics work with them, alongside physical whiteboard boards.

    Can beginners follow the content?

Yes. The programme starts from first principles, so no prior Kanban knowledge is needed. Concepts build step by step from the pull idea through to flow metrics and implementation, with support from the trainer throughout.
