    What is the format of the CSM exam?

    The CSM exam is an open-book, multiple-choice test of 50 questions, taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete an approved course. It is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide.

    How long is the CSM exam and what is the pass mark?

    You have 60 minutes to answer 50 questions, and the passing score is 74 percent, meaning at least 37 of 50 correct. The exam is open book, so you may refer to materials while you answer.

    What if I do not pass the CSM exam first time?

    You typically have up to three attempts to pass within 90 days of completing the course, so there is room to retake it if needed. Our preparation, practice questions and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass on the first attempt.

    When can I take the exam after the course?

    You can access the online CSM exam through your Scrum Alliance member account within 90 days of completing the course. It is taken online without a proctor, so you can sit it when you feel ready.

    Which Scrum standard is the exam based on?

    The CSM exam is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and aligned to the current Scrum Guide (the November 2020 edition) by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. Our courseware follows the same standard.

    The programme covers the six CSM topic areas: Scrum Theory and Principles, Scrum Values, the Scrum Team, Scrum Events, Scrum Artefacts and the Scrum Master role, all aligned to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives.

    How long is the CSM course?

    Invensis Learning delivers the CSM course as a 16-hour instructor-led programme, run as two full days or four half days. This exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hour requirement for an approved CSM course.

    Are practice questions and materials provided?

    Yes. You receive Scrum Alliance aligned courseware, industry case studies on facilitation and coaching, and practice questions mapped to the CSM format to help you prepare for the online exam.

    Is the courseware aligned to the latest Scrum Guide?

    Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Scrum Guide (November 2020 edition) and the current Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives, so you study the same content the exam is based on.
