What Is Kanban and How This Training Helps YouUntitledSkills You Can Use from Day One

Kanban Training in Brunei is a practical, one-day skills programme that teaches you to manage work with a visual, pull-based system, where nothing is produced or started until real demand signals for it. The word Kanban means signboard in Japanese, and the method began with Taiichi Ohno at Toyota in the 1950s as the engine of Just-in-Time production. The course covers both sides of Kanban. On the manufacturing side you learn pull production, kanban cards, supermarkets, two-bin systems and how to size a kanban loop. On the knowledge-work side, formalised by David J. Anderson in 2007, you learn to design Kanban boards, set work-in-progress (WIP) limits, and read flow metrics such as lead time, cycle time and throughput. For professionals across Brunei's downstream energy, manufacturing, logistics, banking and ICT sectors, these are directly usable skills. This is a non-certification programme: there is no exam, and you finish with a course completion record from Invensis Learning and the ability to put Kanban to work straight away.

What Kanban Skills Deliver at WorkValue for Individuals and Teams

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Kanban training helps you manage work visually and pull it through your workflow only when there is capacity, cutting waste, multitasking and delay. It suits operations, production, supply chain, IT, Agile and project professionals across Brunei. Whether you run a factory line, a supply chain, or a software delivery team, you gain a single method that makes work visible and flow smoother.

If you want a practical, transferable skill that works in both manufacturing and knowledge work, Kanban is a strong choice. You leave able to design kanban loops and boards, set WIP limits, and improve flow using real data, not guesswork.

    • Limit work in progress to stop multitasking and finish more, faster
    • Design manufacturing kanban loops and supermarkets that cut excess inventory
    • Build Agile Kanban boards with clear WIP limits and classes of service
    • Measure lead time, cycle time and throughput to improve flow with data
    • Apply the pull principle to reduce waste and shorten delivery times

What Is Driving Demand for Flow Skills in Brunei

    Diversifying Beyond Oil and Gas

As Brunei pushes past oil dependence under Wawasan 2035, new manufacturing and service operations must run lean from day one, and Kanban gives teams a proven way to manage flow and waste.

Kanban builds pull-based flow and waste-reduction skills

    Ramping up Downstream Manufacturing

Hengyi's Phase 2 expansion and BFI's plants add complex, high-volume production. Pull-based kanban systems keep inventory controlled and material moving only when downstream demand calls for it.

Kanban builds pull production and sizing skills

    Bruneianisation and the Skills Gap

Directives to employ and upskill locals mean firms need Bruneians who can run modern production and delivery systems. Practical Kanban capability helps fill that gap.

    Kanban builds practical, transferable capability

    Slow, Unpredictable IT Delivery

Digital and ICT teams often juggle more work than they can finish. Kanban boards and WIP limits expose overload and make delivery times faster and more predictable.

Kanban builds WIP and flow-management skills

    Waste and Cost Pressure

With a small domestic market and tight margins, Brunei employers must cut overproduction, excess stock and rework. Kanban surfaces this waste and drives it down.

    Kanban builds waste-elimination skills

    Fragmented Ways of Working

Operations, supply chain and IT teams often use different, invisible processes. A shared Kanban approach makes work visible and coordination easier across functions.

The Kanban Skills You Will BuildPractical, Hands-On Capability

This training builds practical, applicable capability across both manufacturing pull systems and Agile knowledge work. By the end, you can design kanban loops and boards, set WIP limits, and use flow metrics to improve delivery in real workplaces.

    Pull vs Push Production

Skills covered in this Kanban course start with the core idea: how pull-based systems authorise work only on real demand. You will explain why overproduction is the worst waste and how the kanban signal paces an entire production or service system.

    Designing Manufacturing Kanban Loops

Learn to build production and withdrawal kanban, size kanban quantities and containers, and design supermarkets and two-bin systems that keep inventory capped and material flowing just in time.

    Building Agile Kanban Boards

Design Kanban boards with columns, swimlanes, classes of service and a clear Definition of Done, so knowledge-work and IT teams can see every item and pull work only when they have capacity.

    Setting and Managing WIP Limits

Set work-in-progress limits that stop multitasking, surface bottlenecks and force teams to finish before they start. You will learn how to choose initial limits and adjust them from flow data.

    Measuring Flow and Lead Time

Measure lead time, cycle time and throughput, apply Little's Law, and read a Cumulative Flow Diagram to spot where work stalls and where work in progress is building up.

    Implementing and Sustaining Kanban

Roll out Kanban using the start-with-what-you-do-now principle, run Kanban cadences, apply Scrumban with Scrum teams, and keep improving as flow data reveals new opportunities.
