The Pressures Making Lean Flow Skills Essential in Belgium

    Energy and Input-Cost Pressure

Belgian manufacturers face some of Europe's highest energy and input costs, forcing operations to strip waste and lead time out of every value stream to protect margins.

VSM builds waste and lead-time reduction skills

    Congested Logistics and Port Flow

The Port of Antwerp and its inland networks move huge volumes, so distribution and warehousing teams need value stream mapping to expose bottlenecks and smooth material and information flow.

VSM builds flow and bottleneck-analysis skills

    Scaling Life Sciences Production

Pharma and biotech sites around Wavre, Beerse and Ghent are scaling fast, and mapping keeps batch flow, changeovers and lead time under control as production volumes rise.

    VSM builds current-state mapping skills

    Engineering and Technician Shortage

With engineers and technicians among the hardest roles to fill, 28% of Belgian employers say (ManpowerGroup), leaner and standardised flows help teams do more with scarce talent.

VSM builds standardisation and flow skills

    Reshoring and Supply Resilience

As firms reshore and rebuild resilient supply chains, they redesign end-to-end flows, and VSM is the tool that captures current state and targets a leaner future state.

    VSM builds future-state design skills

    Sustainability and Waste Targets

Tightening EU sustainability rules push Belgian operations to cut overproduction, inventory and rework, exactly the wastes a value stream map is designed to reveal.

Value Stream Mapping is more than a diagram. It is the skill Belgian operations need to protect margins, shorten lead time and build resilient flow. Start your journey today.

    Your Belgium Career Shift

The Shift Value Stream Mapping Makes to Your Work

    Before and After the Training

Belgium's operations leaders increasingly separate people who can only run a process from those who can redesign it. Value Stream Mapping puts you firmly on the second side of that line, with the skill to diagnose the whole flow and plan a leaner future state.

    Today

You can see problems on the line but struggle to prove where waste and delay really build up

    After VSM

You map the full value stream and pinpoint waste, bottlenecks and excess lead time with real data

    Today

Improvement ideas are scattered and hard to prioritise or justify to leadership

    After VSM

You turn a future-state map into a costed, prioritised improvement plan leaders can back

    Today

Your recognition is tied to your job title rather than a portable, in-demand skill

    After VSM

You hold a practical Lean skill valued across Belgian manufacturing, pharma and logistics

    You master VSM

    Before

Flow problems keep returning because fixes are local and never seen across the whole stream

    Now you have

A whole-system view that links every step from supplier to customer

    Before

Limited standing in Lean and operational excellence conversations

    Now you have

The vocabulary and tools to lead mapping workshops with cross-functional teams

    Before

Career options capped at running the process exactly as it is today

    Now you have

A route towards Lean, continuous improvement and operational excellence roles

"The gap between running a process and redesigning it is a practical skill, and the employers that matter in Belgium already know it."

What You Will Be Able to Do After the TrainingPractical Value Stream Mapping Skills

This one-day programme builds hands-on capability across the full VSM cycle. By the end, you can map, analyse and redesign a real value stream, and plan the improvements needed to deliver it.

    Map an End-To-End Value Stream

Skills covered in Value Stream Mapping start here: select a product family, walk the process with a Gemba walk, and capture material and information flow from customer back to supplier using standard VSM symbols.

Apply Lean Foundations and Waste Analysis

Work confidently with the five Lean principles, the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME), and value-added versus non-value-added activity, so you can tell genuine value from waste in any process.

    Build an Accurate Current-State Map

Capture cycle time, changeover, uptime and inventory through direct observation, then complete the timeline to reveal how much of your total lead time actually adds value for the customer.

Find Bottlenecks and Calculate Takt Time

Read the current-state map to locate the constraint, analyse push versus pull flow, and calculate takt time so you can see exactly where flow breaks against real customer demand.

    Design a Leaner Future-State Map

Use the eight future-state questions to design continuous flow, pull systems and levelled scheduling, then quantify the improvement in lead time, inventory and flow against the current state.

Turn Maps into an Improvement Plan

Translate the future-state map into a prioritised implementation roadmap and Kaizen plan, with metrics to track progress and standard work to sustain the gains over time.

Value Stream Mapping is used to make the full flow of materials and information visible in a single view, so teams can find waste, bottlenecks and delays and design a leaner future state. It is widely applied to production lines, supply chains, patient pathways and service and administrative processes.

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in Belgium?

Fees depend on the delivery format, whether you book as an individual or a team, and group size, so pricing is available on request. Every option includes trainer-led sessions, courseware and hands-on mapping exercises. Request a quote and a learning advisor will confirm current pricing for your chosen format.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee covers instructor-led training across all six VSM modules, structured courseware and learning resources, hands-on current-state and future-state mapping exercises, and learner support. You also receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning at the end of the programme.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer tailored corporate pricing for teams, with volume-based rates and customised schedules for single sites, cross-functional groups or leadership teams. Group delivery is especially effective because your team maps a real value stream together. Ask about corporate pricing for a quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and instalment options are available on selected plans. For corporate bookings we can invoice your organisation directly. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

How do I get a quote for this course?

Request a quote through the enquiry form or by contacting our team, telling us your preferred format and whether it is for one learner or a team. We will confirm pricing, upcoming schedules and any group rates that apply. There is no obligation to book.

    Assessment

Is there an assessment at the end of the course?

No. This is a practical skills programme with no formal assessment. Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion throughout the day, so you practise building current-state and future-state maps rather than sitting a test.

Do I receive anything on completing the training?

Yes. On finishing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that records your participation. The real value, however, is the practical VSM skill you can apply to improvement projects straight away.

How is my learning reinforced during the programme?

Learning is reinforced through worked examples, standard VSM symbol practice, and hands-on exercises where you create both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic scenario. Group discussion helps you apply the concepts to your own operations.

Is any prior knowledge required before starting?

No prior knowledge is required. The course has no prerequisites and introduces all relevant Lean concepts as part of the training. It is open to operations managers, engineers, Lean practitioners and process improvement professionals at any level.

Will I be able to run a value stream map on my own afterwards?

Yes. By the end of the programme you can select a product family, walk the process, draw a current-state map, identify waste, design a future-state map and build an implementation plan. Many learners go on to facilitate mapping workshops for their own teams.

    Course Content

What topics does the Value Stream Mapping course cover?

The course covers six modules: Lean foundations and VSM concepts, standard VSM symbols and notation, creating the current-state map, analysing it for waste and bottlenecks, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning to sustain improvement. Each is reinforced with hands-on mapping exercises.

What is the difference between current-state and future-state maps?

A current-state map shows how a value stream actually operates today, capturing real cycle times, inventory and lead time. A future-state map shows the leaner, redesigned flow you are aiming for. The course teaches you to build both and to quantify the improvement between them.

Are there hands-on exercises in the training?

Yes. Hands-on practice runs throughout the day. You create both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario, work with the full VSM symbol set, and calculate lead time and takt time, so you leave able to apply the technique at work.

    What Lean concepts are included?

The course grounds VSM in core Lean thinking: the five Lean principles, the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME), value-added versus non-value-added activity, push versus pull flow, takt time, and the link between VSM and Kaizen improvement events.

Is the course relevant to service and non-manufacturing sectors?

Yes. While VSM began on the shop floor, it applies just as well to logistics, healthcare, financial services, IT delivery and administrative processes. The training shows how to map and improve flow in any environment where work moves from one step to the next.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the Value Stream Mapping course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website or by contacting our team. Choose your preferred format, complete your booking, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and joining details. Reach out to a learning advisor if you need help choosing.

What formats and schedules are available in Belgium?

The training is available online (live virtual), in the classroom, and as onsite corporate delivery for teams in Belgium. You can choose public scheduled sessions or a private group booking arranged around your team's availability. Ask us about upcoming dates.

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for one day, around eight hours in total, covering all six modules with hands-on mapping exercises. It can also be delivered as two half-day sessions where that better fits a team's schedule.

Can I book this as onsite training for my team in Belgium?

Yes. Onsite delivery is popular because your team can map a real value stream from your own operations during the session. We tailor examples to your sector and schedule around production or shift patterns. Contact us to arrange onsite group training.

    Can I reschedule my booking?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or transfer to another session, subject to our published policy. For group bookings we work with you to find dates that suit your team. Contact learner support to make any changes.
