Why Programme Leadership Is in Demand Across Vienna

    Strategy-To-Delivery Gap

Austrian boards approve transformation and capex programmes, but weak links between strategy and the funded project mix cause value leakage that certified programme leaders are hired to fix.

PgMP builds strategic alignment and governance skills

    CEE Cross-Border Complexity

Vienna-based banks such as Erste Group run programmes across many Central and Eastern European markets, demanding programme-grade governance, benefits tracking and risk aggregation at scale.

PgMP builds coordination and benefits-management skills

    Digital Transformation Pressure

With the Austrian ICT market near USD 21 billion in 2026, banks, telecoms and enterprises run concurrent digital programmes that need disciplined programme leadership to deliver.

PgMP builds life-cycle and stakeholder skills

    Programme Talent Scarcity

Austria's pool is deep in PMP project managers but thin in credentialed programme managers. The PgMP's rigorous eligibility and panel review make holders rare and sought-after.

PgMP makes certified programme leaders stand out

    Public-Sector Digitalisation

Bodies such as the Bundesrechenzentrum modernise public services at scale, needing benefits-driven programme oversight across many interdependent projects.

PgMP builds governance and oversight skills

    Sustainability Programme Demand

Vienna's carbon-neutral-by-2040 push funds smart-grid, digital-twin and urban-analytics programmes that demand cross-project coordination and aggregated risk management.

    Engage Stakeholders at Scale

Identify, analyse and engage stakeholders across a complex programme, manage competing interests, and keep communications timely and relevant to build support and reduce resistance.

    Govern Programmes with Confidence

Establish governance frameworks, authorise components, monitor performance, manage change and audits, and steer closure governance, giving leadership clear decision points and control.

Master the Exam and Panel Review

Prepare for the 170-question, four-hour PgMP exam and document your experience for the multi-rater panel review, with structured practice, mock exams and application guidance.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's advanced credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme aligned to strategy. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMP holders stepping up, and PMO leaders with substantial programme experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

PgMP (Program Management Professional) is PMI's advanced credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme aligned to strategy. It is designed for senior programme managers, PMP holders stepping up, and PMO leaders with substantial programme experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for senior professionals in Vienna?

Yes. With fewer than 3,000 holders worldwide, the PgMP sets you apart for senior programme roles in Vienna's banking, ICT, energy and public sectors. Senior programme roles in Austria pay around EUR 100,000, with director bands reaching higher.

Is the PgMP recognised in Austria and globally?

Yes. The PgMP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued by employers across Austria and worldwide, including Vienna-based banks, telecoms, consultancies and public bodies that run large, strategy-critical programmes.

How is the PgMP different from the PMP?

The PMP recognises project management, while the PgMP recognises programme management: leading multiple related projects to deliver strategic benefits. The PgMP sits above the PMP and requires more experience plus a multi-rater panel review.

How long is the PgMP valid and how is it renewed?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across PMI's Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

How much does PgMP training cost in Vienna?

PgMP training fees vary by format and are available on request. The fee covers PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams and application support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing in euros.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, exam simulator access, downloadable templates, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PgMP exam fee separately under regional pricing, and PMI members pay less than non-members. Confirm the current exam and re-examination fees on the PMI store before you apply.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing for PgMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, transformation offices and leadership teams in Vienna. Contact us for a tailored group quote.

What payment and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. Questions span the five performance domains and include scenario-based items.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and you have four hours (240 minutes) to complete it. It is delivered through Pearson VUE, either at a test centre or via OnVUE online proctoring.

What are the PgMP eligibility requirements?

PgMP eligibility requires a secondary or four-year degree plus several years of project management (or an active PMP) and programme management experience within the past 15 years, the exact months depending on your degree. All candidates also complete a multi-rater panel review.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. Results are determined through psychometric analysis and reported by domain, so focus on broad mastery across all five performance domains.

What happens if I do not pass the PgMP exam?

PMI allows up to three exam attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our prep, mock exams and trainer guidance are designed to help you pass with confidence.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PgMP training?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), plus application and exam strategy.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PgMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, an overview of The Standard for Program Management, templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams, an exam simulator and topic-wise quizzes to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness across the five domains.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PgMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline.

Will I get a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours (PDUs) earned through the programme.
