What is the format of the PfMP exam?

The PfMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PfMP Examination Content Outline and the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition. Questions are distributed across five performance domains and include scenario-based items.

How many questions are on the PfMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is delivered online via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the five PfMP exam domains and their weights?

Strategic Alignment (25%), Governance (20%), Portfolio Performance (25%), Portfolio Risk Management (14%) and Communications Management (16%), per the PfMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PfMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the PfMP exam the first time?

PMI allows up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our training and practice resources are designed to build your readiness before you sit the exam.

Course Content

Do I need prior experience to take PfMP training?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the PfMP exam, PMI requires substantial experience: broadly, 120 months of business experience plus portfolio management experience (from 36 to 84 months depending on your education path), all within the past 15 years, and a panel review.

What topics are covered in the PfMP training?

The training covers the five PfMP performance domains: Strategic Alignment, Governance, Portfolio Performance, Portfolio Risk Management and Communications Management, plus PfMP application guidance and exam strategy, all aligned to the Standard for Portfolio Management, Fourth Edition.

What learning resources and materials are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned courseware, references to the PfMP Examination Content Outline and Handbook, a Standard for Portfolio Management overview, templates, flashcards and chapter-wise quizzes to support your preparation.

Are mock exams and practice questions included?
