Market Forces Driving Construction PM Demand in Sharjah

    Mega-Development Pipeline

What is the PMI Construction Professional (PMI-CP) certification?

PMI-CP is the Project Management Institute's specialist certification for the construction industry. It validates your ability to apply project management skills across the build lifecycle, covering four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

Who should take the PMI-CP course?

The credential suits construction project managers, site managers and project engineers stepping up, contracts and commercial professionals, owner's representatives, and PMP holders specialising in construction. It is aimed at mid-to-senior practitioners with construction delivery experience.

Is PMP required before taking PMI-CP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply directly based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and PMI-CP covering construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within the three-year cycle. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats. It is delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre, and is based on the PMI-CP ECO aligned to the PMBOK Guide, 8th Edition.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Questions are distributed across the four domains per the Examination Content Outline.

What are the eligibility requirements for PMI-CP?

You must complete four mandatory self-paced modules, then meet one of three experience sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets need 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

What if I do not pass the PMI-CP exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval. Our training includes scenario practice and prep support to build readiness, and re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Confirm current fees on pmi.org.
