Is PMP required before taking PMI-CP?

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD, around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members for reference. Fees vary by region, so confirm the current amounts at PMI before you apply. Membership can reduce the exam cost.

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is closed book with multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats, based on the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes, which is 3 hours and 50 minutes. Questions are distributed across the four ECO domains.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

There are four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). The heavy weighting on contracts reflects how central contract administration and claims are to construction delivery.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all four domains rather than a target percentage.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You are allowed up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our mock exams and prep support are designed to help you pass on the first try.

Course Content

Can a beginner take PMI-CP training?

Anyone can enrol in the training, but PMI-CP is an advanced credential. To sit the exam you need construction project management experience (24 to 60 months depending on your education) plus 35 contact hours of PM education and the four prerequisite modules.

What topics are covered in the PMI-CP training?

The training covers the four ECO domains: Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance. It includes contract types, claims, change control, schedule and cost management, risk, quality and governance, plus exam strategy.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying you must complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams aligned to the 120-question, closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes that help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the current PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide, along with construction industry standards referenced by PMI, so you prepare against the same material the exam tests.

What are the eligibility requirements for PMI-CP?

You must complete the four prerequisite modules and meet one of three sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months. All sets require 35 contact hours of PM education.
