What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in the UAE?

Yes. With a UAE construction pipeline worth over USD 308 billion through 2030 and certified project managers reporting a 15 to 30 per cent pay premium, the PMI-CP helps you stand out for senior construction roles. It signals proven, construction-specific delivery capability to employers.

Is the PMI-CP recognised in the UAE?

Yes. The PMI-CP is a globally recognised PMI credential valued across the UAE and the wider Gulf, including by contractors, developers and consultancies delivering building, civil and infrastructure projects. PMI credentials are recognised in over 200 countries.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PMI-CP?

No. A PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can pursue the PMI-CP directly based on your construction experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with the PMP covering general project management and the PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP certification valid?

The PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within the three-year continuing certification requirements cycle. The 56 PDUs from the prerequisite modules can be applied toward renewal.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in the UAE?

PMI-CP training fees vary by format and provider, so the current price is available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD by PMI. Contact a learning advisor for a tailored quote and upcoming batch details.

What is included in the PMI-CP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock scenarios, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI-CP application, learner support and a course completion certificate. The PMI exam fee is not included.

Is the PMI-CP exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing, around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members (for reference only; confirm current fees at pmi.org). PMI membership is about USD 139 a year and reduces the exam cost.

Do you offer corporate or group discounts in the UAE?

What payment options are available?

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book and uses multiple-choice questions in single-answer and multiple-answer formats.

What are the four PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The PMI-CP exam covers four domains from the Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is by far the largest domain.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score rather than a fixed percentage. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so aim for broad mastery across all four domains.

Where can I sit the PMI-CP exam in the UAE?

You can take the PMI-CP exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through Pearson VUE or the PMI portal within your one-year eligibility period.

What happens if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You are permitted up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval. PMI charges a re-examination fee for the second and third attempts, so confirm the current amount on the PMI store before rebooking.

Course Content

What does the PMI-CP training cover?

The training covers the four PMI-CP domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, plus exam strategy.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, all candidates must complete four self-paced modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

Does this training meet the PMI-CP education requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours of project management education PMI requires across all eligibility sets. Check with your advisor whether supplementary self-study is credited toward the 35-hour requirement.

Which standard and outline is the course aligned to?

The course is aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO) and the current edition of the PMBOK Guide, along with construction industry standards and practices referenced by PMI. The Project Management Institute is the governing body for the credential.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock scenarios aligned to the 120-question, 230-minute closed-book PMI-CP format, plus topic-wise checks to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

Eligibility has two parts. First, complete all four prerequisite modules. Second, meet one set: Set A (secondary diploma, 60 months construction PM experience, 35 contact hours); Set B (bachelor's, 36 months, 35 hours); or Set C (GAC-accredited degree, 24 months, 35 hours), all within the past 10 years.

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course in the UAE?
