What Is Driving Demand for COBIT 5 Assessors in Vietnam

    New Data Protection Law Compliance

Vietnam's Personal Data Protection Law (Law 91/2025) and Decree 356/2025 require finance and banking organisations to assess compliance every year, driving demand for structured, evidence-based assessors.

    Assessor skills evidence compliance

    Banking Cloud and Core Modernisation

Banks such as VPBank, VIB and LPBank are migrating core systems to cloud-native platforms, and boards need independent capability assessments to govern IT risk through rapid change.

    Assessor skills govern IT risk

    Scarce Assessment Specialists

Vietnam's IT talent pool is deep in engineering but thin in credentialed governance assessors. The Assessor level makes qualified holders rare and sought-after in audit and assurance.

    Assessor makes holders stand out

    Governance Maturity Gap

Fast-scaling IT services firms and global capability centres run many concurrent projects without a mature, strategy-aligned governance layer, the exact gap formal COBIT 5 process assessment addresses.

    Assessor closes the maturity gap

    Cybersecurity and Regulatory Assurance

Vietnam's Cybersecurity Law and sector rules push regulated firms to prove control effectiveness. ISO/IEC 15504-aligned COBIT 5 assessments give auditors and regulators defensible evidence.

    Assessor builds credible evidence

    Global Client Assurance Demands

FPT, Viettel and CMC serve global clients who expect internationally comparable governance assurance, making ISO/IEC 15504-aligned assessment capability a real differentiator for export-focused providers.

    Assessor supports export providers

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme, validating the ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM), which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. It is designed for IT auditors, GRC specialists, governance consultants and lead assessors.

    General

What is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification and who is it for?

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme, validating the ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM), which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504. It is designed for IT auditors, GRC specialists, governance consultants and lead assessors.

Is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification worth it in Vietnam?

Yes. As Vietnam's banks, IT services exporters and public bodies must increasingly evidence control effectiveness, qualified assessors are in demand. Roles range from IT Auditor, averaging around 589 million VND, to IT Audit Manager and Head of IT Governance, so the credential supports strong career and salary progression.

What are the prerequisites for COBIT 5 Assessor?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required before you sit the Assessor exam, and COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended. The Assessor level assumes Foundation knowledge, such as the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model, and builds on it at an advanced, specialist level.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor recognised in Vietnam?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and the Assessor credential is valued by employers in Vietnam and worldwide for IT audit, GRC and governance assessment roles, including banks, telecoms, IT services firms and Big Four advisory practices. Exams are delivered globally via PeopleCert.

How does COBIT 5 Assessor differ from COBIT 5 Implementation?

Implementation validates the ability to plan and manage a governance improvement programme using the seven-phase lifecycle. Assessor validates the specialist ability to conduct formal process capability assessments using the PAM and ISO/IEC 15504. Implementation covers governance delivery; Assessor covers governance measurement.

    Pricing

What is included in the COBIT 5 Assessor course fee?

The training fee typically includes instructor-led sessions, COBIT 5 Assessor aligned courseware, case studies, mock questions and learner support, plus guidance on the open-book PeopleCert exam. Verify current inclusions, such as the exam voucher, when you enrol. Request a quote for full details.

How much does COBIT 5 Assessor training cost in Vietnam?

Training is usually purchased as a combined training and exam package through an authorised provider, and pricing varies by format and delivery mode. Exact fees are available on request. Talk to a learning advisor for a quote tailored to individual or group enrolment.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

It depends on the package. COBIT 5 Assessor is often bought as a bundled training and exam package, though PeopleCert exam pricing varies by region and channel. Confirm whether the exam voucher is included when you enrol, and ask us for a quote that sets this out clearly.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for internal audit, risk and IT governance teams. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The COBIT 5 Assessor exam is an open-book, objective test based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version). It uses scenario-based questions that require you to apply the PAM and professional judgement. Only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide and the Process Assessment Model are permitted.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for a total of 80 marks. You have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All 8 questions are scored, so there are no unscored pretest questions.

What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The pass mark is 50%. You need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available to pass. Because the questions require specialist analysis, prepare to apply the PAM and the four-point rating scale across realistic assessment scenarios.

Which materials are allowed in the open-book exam?

Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are allowed, so efficient navigation of these documents under timed conditions is an important exam skill the training builds.

How is the exam delivered and what if I do not pass?

The exam is delivered by PeopleCert, either online proctored through the OnVUE system, available 24/7, or at authorised test centres. If you do not pass first time, a re-sit can be arranged; confirm the current re-examination policy with PeopleCert before you book.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the COBIT 5 Assessor training?

The training covers all five Assessor topic areas: Overview of COBIT 5 Process Assessment, the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model, Capability Levels and Attributes, Assessment Planning and Execution, and Evidence, Rating and Reporting, all at application and analysis level.

What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM)?

The PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess COBIT 5 process capability. It has two dimensions: the process dimension, covering the 37 COBIT 5 processes, and the capability dimension, covering six capability levels from Level 0 Incomplete to Level 5 Optimising.

What are the six COBIT 5 capability levels?

The six levels are Level 0 Incomplete, Level 1 Performed, Level 2 Managed, Level 3 Established, Level 4 Predictable and Level 5 Optimising. Each is assessed through the nine process attributes and a four-point rating scale of Not Achieved, Partially Achieved, Largely Achieved and Fully Achieved.

Are practice materials and mock questions included?

Yes. The programme includes COBIT 5 Assessor aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies and practice questions mapped to the exam format, helping you rehearse assessment planning, evidence gathering, rating and reporting before exam day.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the official COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version), and uses the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model as its core references.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to enrol in the training?

To sit the exam you must hold COBIT 5 Foundation, with Implementation recommended. There is no formal education or work-experience requirement, though practical IT audit or governance experience is strongly advised given the specialist nature of the credential.

How do I enrol in the COBIT 5 Assessor course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help selecting a batch.

What training formats are available in Vietnam?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, classroom training and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning preference across Vietnam.

How long is the COBIT 5 Assessor training?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered as two full days or four half-days. It covers all five Assessor topic areas at application and analysis level and prepares you for the open-book PeopleCert exam.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch where available. Contact our support team to arrange this and confirm any conditions that apply to your enrolment.
