What Is Driving IT Governance Demand in Uganda

    Data Protection Compliance Pressure

The Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019 and the Personal Data Protection Office require Ugandan organisations to prove control over how data is governed, exactly what a COBIT 5 implementation programme addresses.

COBIT 5 builds governance drivers and lifecycle skills

    NITA-U Standards and Regulatory Audits

NITA-U sets and audits IT planning, risk and security standards for public bodies. Governance implementers who can baseline capability and close gaps are in short supply.

COBIT 5 builds current-state and target-state assessment skills

    Financial-Sector IT Risk Expectations

Banks and insurers face rising Bank of Uganda expectations on IT risk and cyber resilience, driving demand for structured governance improvement led by certified practitioners.

COBIT 5 builds programme and risk-governance skills

    Mobile Money and Fintech Growth

With MTN and Airtel serving tens of millions of mobile money users, rapid fintech growth outpaces governance maturity, creating clear demand for implementers who can embed controls.

COBIT 5 builds change enablement and control skills

    Public-Sector Digitisation and Remediation

Government digitisation raises audit and accountability demands. COBIT 5 gives teams a repeatable lifecycle to remediate findings and sustain governance beyond one-off projects.

    COBIT 5 builds continuous-improvement skills

    Scarcity of Certified Implementers

Uganda has a growing IT talent pool but few professionals credentialed to lead governance improvement, making COBIT 5 Implementation holders rare and sought-after.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

The exam is open book with four objective questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total, sat over two and a half hours (150 minutes). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The pass mark is 50%. You need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available to pass. Because questions are scenario-based, both deep method knowledge and efficient navigation of the permitted books matter.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

The course covers the four exam topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, all at application level and aligned to the 2022 syllabus.

What are the seven phases of the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle?

The phases are: what are the drivers, where are we now, where do we want to be, what needs to be done, how do we get there, did we get there, and how do we keep the momentum going. The lifecycle is designed as a continuous improvement cycle.

What is the COBIT 5 change enablement cycle?

It is the five-component cycle that runs alongside the implementation lifecycle: awareness and communication, desire and willingness, knowledge, ability, and reinforcement. It recognises that governance improvement is as much a people challenge as a technical one.

Are practice materials and case studies included?

Yes. The programme includes industry case studies, mock exams and practice questions aligned to the four-question, open-book format, helping you apply the lifecycle to realistic scenarios and identify weak areas before exam day.

Do I need prior experience to follow the course?

You need COBIT 5 Foundation, which is assumed and not retaught. Beyond that, the course is designed for practitioners who lead or support governance improvement, and the trainer relates concepts to real workplace scenarios.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment?
