COBIT 5 Assessor builds evidence-based rating skills

    Data Protection Compliance

Uganda's Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019 lifts the bar for governance and privacy controls. Certified assessors provide the objective capability evidence regulators and boards expect.

COBIT 5 Assessor supports privacy and control assurance

    Scarce Certified Assessors

COBIT 5 Assessor makes specialist talent stand out

    Digital and Mobile Money Growth

Fast growth in mobile money and digital banking widens the IT estate. Organisations need structured governance assessment to keep pace with rising technology risk.

    Your Uganda Career Transformation

Your Governance Career Before and After COBIT 5 Assessor

    The Shift This Credential Delivers

Uganda's banks, telecoms and public bodies are under growing pressure to prove IT governance maturity, and employers increasingly separate certified assessors from general auditors. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

    Today

Pay capped with limited leverage to negotiate in the Ugandan market

    After COBIT 5 Assessor

Senior IT governance and audit roles in Uganda command strong bands, with heads of function reaching far higher

    Today

Shortlisted less often for roles that list formal assessment skills as preferred

    After COBIT 5 Assessor

Eligible for governance and assurance roles across banks, telecoms and the public sector

    Today

Confident in audit, but employers want capability assessment competency

    After COBIT 5 Assessor

Fluent in the COBIT 5 PAM, the six capability levels and defensible rating

You earn your COBIT 5 Assessor

    Before

Assessment authority resting on job title, not a recognised qualification

    Now you have

A globally recognised specialist credential valued by Ugandan and international employers

    Before

Stuck at general IT audit level with no formal assessment mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into IT governance manager, head of IT audit and assurance-lead roles

    Before

Comfortable with checklists, but not formal ISO/IEC 15504-aligned assessment

    Now you have

The rating discipline employers want: evidence, capability profiles and PAM-compliant reports

    Before

Recognition that fades when you move sector or employer

    Now you have

A credential that travels across banking, telecoms, the public sector and consulting

"The gap between auditing IT and formally assessing its capability is increasingly a recognised credential, and the organisations that matter already know it."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM), which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504.

    General

What is the COBIT 5 Assessor certification?

COBIT 5 Assessor is the highest qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to plan, conduct, rate and report formal process capability assessments using the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model (PAM), which is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor worth it in Uganda?

Yes. Ugandan banks, telecoms and public bodies increasingly need evidence-based governance assurance, and few local professionals can run formal COBIT 5 assessments. The credential positions you for senior IT audit, GRC and governance roles where these skills are scarce.

Who should take the COBIT 5 Assessor course?

It suits IT auditors, IT assurance and GRC specialists, governance consultants and IT governance managers who want to conduct formal, ISO/IEC 15504-aligned capability assessments. It is the advanced specialist level above Foundation and Implementation.

What are the prerequisites for COBIT 5 Assessor?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required. COBIT 5 Implementation is recommended, and the Assessor exam assumes knowledge from both levels. Practical experience in IT audit or governance assessment is strongly advised.

Is COBIT 5 Assessor recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is a globally recognised standard for IT governance, and PeopleCert delivers the exam in over 200 countries. The Assessor credential is valued worldwide for specialist governance assessment, IT audit and GRC roles.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing examination based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version). It uses realistic assessment scenarios that require analysis and professional judgement, not simple recall.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The paper has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for 80 marks in total. You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it.

What is the passing score for COBIT 5 Assessor?

The pass mark is 50%, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Ratings and reasoning matter, so focus on applying the PAM and evidence correctly across all topic areas.

Which materials are allowed in the open-book exam?

Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are allowed, so efficient navigation of both is essential.

How is the COBIT 5 Assessor exam delivered and booked?

The exam is delivered by PeopleCert, either online through OnVUE proctoring, available 24/7, or at an authorised test centre. You can book through your training provider or directly via PeopleCert.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Assessor training cover?

The course covers the five syllabus areas: the overview of COBIT 5 process assessment, the PAM, capability levels and attributes, assessment planning and execution, and evidence, rating and reporting, all at application and analysis level.

What is the COBIT 5 Process Assessment Model?

The COBIT 5 PAM is the ISO/IEC 15504-aligned model used to assess the capability of COBIT 5 processes. It has two dimensions: the process dimension (the 37 processes) and the capability dimension (six levels from 0 Incomplete to 5 Optimising).

What are the capability levels and process attributes?

There are six capability levels (0 to 5) and nine process attributes, from PA 1.1 Process Performance to PA 5.2 Process Optimisation. Each attribute is rated on a four-point scale (Not, Partially, Largely or Fully Achieved) from collected evidence.

Which syllabus edition is the course aligned to?

The training is aligned to the COBIT 5 framework and the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version). The PAM it uses is aligned to ISO/IEC 15504, giving assessments international credibility and comparability.

Are mock exams and practice included?

Yes. The programme includes COBIT 5 Assessor practice questions and mock exams, along with industry case studies, so you can rehearse assessment planning, rating and reporting before sitting the open-book exam.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements to enrol?

You should hold COBIT 5 Foundation before sitting the Assessor exam, with COBIT 5 Implementation recommended. Anyone can enrol in the training, but Foundation and Implementation knowledge is assumed and not retaught in the Assessor course.

How do I enrol in the COBIT 5 Assessor course?

Enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need guidance first.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual (online) instructor-led training, classroom sessions and focused one-to-one training, plus customised corporate group training. Choose the format that fits your schedule and team.

How long is the COBIT 5 Assessor training?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered over two full days, or four half-days in the extended format. It covers all five topic areas and prepares you for the open-book exam.

    Can I reschedule my enrolment?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or move to another batch, and selected plans include a retake option. Contact support to arrange rescheduling or to check the policy that applies to your enrolment.
