    How is DFSS different from DMAIC?

    DMAIC improves existing processes that are underperforming, while DFSS designs new products and processes right from the start. DFSS uses the DMADV roadmap, Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify. Many organisations use both: DMAIC to improve what exists and DFSS to design what is new. This course covers DFSS and DMADV.

    Is Design for Six Sigma training worth it in Tanzania?

    Yes. As Tanzania industrialises across food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, cement, steel, FMCG and automotive assembly, employers increasingly value engineers who can design quality in and reduce costly late redesign.     Do I need prior Six Sigma knowledge to attend?

    How long is the Design for Six Sigma programme?

    The programme runs for one day, around eight hours, covering DFSS foundations, the Define, Measure, Analyse, Design and Verify phases, and hands-on exercises with VOC, CTQ flow-down, QFD, the Pugh matrix and Design FMEA throughout the day.

    Is there an exam for Design for Six Sigma training?

    No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on DFSS tool exercises, case examples and team discussion during the day rather than a formal test.

    Do I receive a certification after the training?

    No formal certification or credential is awarded, because DFSS has no external awarding body. On completing the programme you receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning that recognises the DFSS skills you have built.

    How is my learning assessed during the course?

    There is no formal assessment. You apply the DMADV tools to realistic design scenarios through the day, building a VOC to CTQ flow-down, a QFD House of Quality, a Pugh concept-selection matrix and a Design FMEA, so you practise each tool as you learn it.

    Will the skills expire or need renewal?

    No. There is no certification to maintain and no renewal cycle. The DFSS methodology and tools you learn are immediately applicable to design projects and remain useful throughout your career.

    What will I be able to do after completing the training?

    You will be able to apply the DMADV roadmap to a design project, capture VOC with the Kano model, translate needs into CTQs, build a QFD House of Quality, use the Pugh matrix, run a Design FMEA, apply robust-design thinking and plan design verification and validation.

    What topics does the Design for Six Sigma course cover?

    The course covers DFSS foundations and DMADV, the Define phase (VOC, Kano, project charter), the Measure phase (CTQ flow-down, QFD), the Analyse phase (concept generation, Pugh matrix, DFMEA), the Design phase (robust design, P-diagram, DFMA) and the Verify phase (verification, validation, design scorecard, transfer).

    Can a beginner take this course?

    Yes. The course is beginner-friendly and introduces every DFSS tool and the DMADV methodology from first principles, with hands-on exercises and guidance throughout, so you do not need prior DFSS experience to follow it.

    Are there hands-on exercises or is it all theory?

    The programme is practical. You apply VOC to CTQ flow-down, build a QFD House of Quality, run a Pugh concept-selection matrix and complete a Design FMEA on realistic product and process scenarios, so you leave able to use the tools at work.

    Which methodology and tools will I learn?

    You learn the DMADV roadmap and the core DFSS toolkit: Voice of the Customer, the Kano model, CTQ flow-down, Quality Function Deployment, the Pugh matrix, Design FMEA, the P-diagram, Taguchi robust design, Design of Experiments awareness and design verification and validation.

    Is the training relevant to my industry?

    Yes. DFSS applies wherever new products or processes are designed, including food and beverage, pharmaceuticals and medical devices, cement and steel, FMCG, packaging and automotive assembly, all sectors expanding across Tanzania. Corporate sessions can use examples from your own industry.
