What is the PRINCE2 Practitioner certification?

Who should take the PRINCE2 Practitioner course?

It is designed for practising and aspiring project managers, PRINCE2 Foundation holders advancing to the next level, and PMP or CAPM holders diversifying their credentials. It suits professionals leading projects in energy, banking, telecoms and the public sector.

    Is PRINCE2 Practitioner recognised internationally?

Yes. PRINCE2 is recognised globally, with particular strength in the UK, Europe, the Commonwealth and Asia-Pacific. PeopleCert operates in over 200 countries, so the credential travels with you across sectors and borders.

    Exam

What is the format of the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

It is an open-book, scenario-based objective test. The PRINCE2 Managing Successful Projects manual is permitted, and questions use multiple-choice, matching, sequence and assertion-reason formats based on the PRINCE2 7 Practitioner syllabus.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The PRINCE2 7 Practitioner exam has 56 questions and sub-questions worth 70 marks, with 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes) allotted. Questions require analysis and judgement, not simple recall.

What is the passing score for PRINCE2 Practitioner?

The pass mark is 60 percent, which means achieving at least 42 out of 70 marks. Because the exam is scenario-based, focus on applying and tailoring the method rather than memorising the manual.

Do I need PRINCE2 Foundation before the Practitioner exam?

Yes. PRINCE2 Foundation is the required prerequisite. PeopleCert also accepts certain equivalents such as PMP, CAPM and IPMA Level A to D. Verify current accepted equivalents before you book the Practitioner exam.

Where can I take the PRINCE2 Practitioner exam?

You can sit it online through PeopleCert's OnVUE proctoring, available 24/7, or at an authorised test centre. The exam is usually arranged as part of an accredited training and exam package.

    Course Content

What topics does the PRINCE2 Practitioner training cover?

The training covers all nine syllabus areas: PRINCE2 principles, practices and processes, key roles and responsibilities, people management, sustainability and ESG, digital and data management, effective communication, and tailoring PRINCE2 to your needs.

What is new in PRINCE2 7 compared with PRINCE2 6?

PRINCE2 7th Edition (2023) introduces a people capability as a core element, renames themes to practices, adds sustainability and ESG, incorporates digital and data management, and updates the processes and management products.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

You need PRINCE2 Foundation or an accepted equivalent, but no formal work experience is required. The course is scenario-based, so practising or aspiring project managers get the most from it. Our trainers support you throughout.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes scenario practice questions, mock exercises and open-book manual navigation drills mapped to the Practitioner syllabus, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest PRINCE2 syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PRINCE2 7th Edition and the PeopleCert PRINCE2 7 Practitioner syllabus, based on the Managing Successful Projects manual.
