What Is Quality Function Deployment and Why It MattersUntitledA Customer-Driven Design Method

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and design characteristics at every stage of product and service development. Quality Function Deployment Training in Tunisia teaches you to apply this method through the House of Quality, the central QFD planning matrix that links customer needs to measurable design targets. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno in the late 1960s, QFD is now a standard tool in automotive design (APQP), aerospace, electronics, healthcare and software, and a core technique within Design for Six Sigma. This one-day programme takes you from capturing customer needs through to building and interpreting the House of Quality and cascading requirements into parts, process and production planning. Aimed at product designers, quality engineers, R&D professionals and product managers, the course builds practical, workplace-ready capability rather than theory alone. Start your QFD journey with Invensis Learning and learn to design quality in from the very first requirement.

    Who developed the QFD methodology?

QFD was developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno in the late 1960s, with the first formal application at Mitsubishi's Kobe Shipyard in 1972. It later spread to automotive, aerospace, electronics and service industries worldwide.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Tunisia?

Fees vary by delivery format, whether you join a public session or book corporate training, and group size. Pricing is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a quote tailored to your needs in Tunisia.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six QFD modules, hands-on House of Quality exercises, courseware and templates, and a course completion record. Ask about the exact inclusions for your chosen format.

Do you offer group or corporate rates?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with tailored content and volume-based pricing for product, quality and manufacturing teams. Request a group quote for your team.

Are there any extra costs beyond the training fee?

    How is my learning assessed?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you apply the method throughout the day by building and interpreting a House of Quality using realistic product and service scenarios, so you can use QFD at work straight away.

    Is QFD a certification?

No. QFD is a methodology, not a certification. This course builds practical QFD and House of Quality skills; it does not lead to an exam or an accredited credential.

Does QFD support Six Sigma work?

Yes. QFD is a core tool within Design for Six Sigma and DMAIC. This course strengthens the QFD skills used in the DMADV Measure phase and the DMAIC Define phase, complementing Lean Six Sigma training.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The one-day course covers QFD foundations and the business case, capturing and structuring the Voice of the Customer, building and interpreting the House of Quality, cascading QFD through four phases, and applying QFD in Design for Six Sigma and service design.

What will I learn about the House of Quality?

You learn to build all six rooms of the House of Quality: customer requirements, engineering characteristics, the relationship matrix, the correlation roof, competitive benchmarking and engineering targets, then interpret them to set design priorities.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Hands-on House of Quality construction runs throughout the day, alongside Voice of the Customer structuring, Kano classification and column importance calculation, so you practise the method on realistic scenarios.

Does the course cover QFD for services and software?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the course covers its use in services such as healthcare and financial services, and in software design, where customer requirements must be translated into delivery or architecture decisions.

How long is the QFD training?

The course is delivered in one day (eight hours), covering all six QFD modules with concept explanations, real-world examples and hands-on House of Quality exercises. A half-day format across two sessions is also available.
