Industry Challenges Driving PMI-CP Demand in Thailand

    Contract and Claims Complexity

Contracts Management is the largest PMI-CP domain at 50 percent, reflecting how contract types, variations, claims and disputes drive risk on Thai construction projects. Employers need managers who can control this exposure.

PMI-CP builds contracts and claims management skills

    Mega-Infrastructure Delivery Pressure

With 11 transport megaprojects worth THB 359.8bn lined up for 2026, including double-track rail, motorways and airport expansions, delivery demands portfolio-grade governance, risk aggregation and stakeholder coordination.

PMI-CP builds governance and coordination skills

    Rising Costs and Capital Discipline

Higher material and labour costs are forcing Thai contractors to rethink delivery. Certified project leaders who control scope, change orders and budgets protect margins and keep projects viable.

PMI-CP builds scope and cost control skills

Data Centre and Industrial Build Wave

BOI approvals are driving a wave of high-spec data centre and industrial builds tied to foreign investment. These fast, complex projects reward disciplined construction project management.

    PMI-CP builds high-spec delivery capability

    Construction PM Talent Shortage

Thailand has many site engineers but few professionals holding a construction-specific project management credential. The PMI-CP and its module pathway make holders visible and sought-after.

PMI-CP makes certified construction leaders stand out

    Stakeholder and Regulatory Coordination

Eastern Economic Corridor and urban projects involve owners, authorities, communities and utilities. Weak stakeholder engagement causes delays that trained construction project managers are hired to prevent.

The PMI-CP is PMI's specialist credential for the construction industry. It validates your ability to apply project management in a construction environment across four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%), aligned to the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide.

The PMI-CP suits construction project managers, site managers, project engineers moving into project management, programme managers, owner's representatives and construction consultants. It is an advanced, construction-specific credential for professionals with construction project management experience.

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two are complementary, however, and many construction professionals hold both, with the PMP covering general PM and the PMI-CP covering construction-specific expertise.

The PMI-CP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of eight PDUs in each area, within the three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

    Pricing

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Thailand?

PMI-CP training fees vary by format and are available on request. The fee typically covers PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support. The PMI exam fee is billed separately by PMI. Request a quote for current pricing and upcoming batches.

What does the PMI-CP course fee include?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned, ECO-based courseware across all four domains, practice questions and mock exams mapped to the exam format, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI application, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours.

Is the PMI exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the PMI-CP exam fee separately under its own pricing, with member and non-member rates. As a guide, PMI has published fees of around USD 520 for members and USD 670 for non-members; confirm current figures on pmi.org before applying.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for contractors, developers and consultancies in Thailand. Ask about corporate and group pricing for a tailored quote for your project teams.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam has 120 questions and a duration of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes). It is closed book with multiple-choice questions, delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PMI-CP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers four domains from the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%). Contracts Management is the largest, reflecting the centrality of contracts and claims in construction.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-CP?

You must complete four mandatory self-paced prerequisite modules and meet one experience set: a secondary diploma with 60 months of construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, all within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score for the PMI-CP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is set through psychometric analysis, and performance is reported by domain as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all four domains.

What if I do not pass the exam on the first attempt?

You are allowed up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our training, practice questions and mock exams are designed to build readiness across all four domains so you can approach each attempt with confidence.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You will learn to manage construction contracts, variations and claims, engage owners, authorities and communities, define and control scope, schedule, budget, risk and quality, and apply project governance and compliance, aligned to the four PMI-CP domains and the PMBOK Guide.

What are the four mandatory prerequisite modules?

Before applying, you complete four self-paced PMI-CP modules in any order: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each is a 6 to 10 hour commitment and awards 14 PDUs, for 56 PDUs in total.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 120-question, 230-minute closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness across all four domains.

Is the courseware aligned with the current PMI-CP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current PMI-CP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide, covering Contracts Management, Stakeholder Engagement, Strategy and Scope Management, and Project Governance.

Do I need prior construction experience?

Anyone can attend the training, but the PMI-CP is an advanced credential. To sit the exam you need construction project management experience per one of the PMI eligibility sets. If you are early in your career, the training still builds strong, applicable skills for the site and project office.

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to get started.
