What Is Quality Function Deployment and Why It MattersUntitledA Customer-Driven Approach to Design

Quality Function Deployment (QFD) is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and design characteristics at every stage of product and service development. This Quality Function Deployment training in El Salvador teaches you to capture what customers really need and design it in from the start. Developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno, QFD uses the House of Quality matrix to link customer requirements to measurable design targets, so teams reduce rework, shorten development time and build products people actually want. The one-day programme is practical throughout, with hands-on House of Quality exercises rather than any examination. It suits product designers, quality and design engineers, product managers, R&D professionals and Six Sigma practitioners across El Salvador's manufacturing and service sectors. Whether you work in apparel, automotive, electronics or food production, you gain skills you can apply immediately. Start your QFD journey with Invensis Learning.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment (QFD)?

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method for translating the Voice of the Customer into engineering and design characteristics. It uses the House of Quality matrix to link what customers want to how a product will deliver it. QFD was developed in Japan by Yoji Akao and Shigeru Mizuno and applies across manufacturing, services and software design.

Who should attend the QFD training in El Salvador?

The training suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, R&D and new product development professionals, and Six Sigma practitioners. Anyone in El Salvador's manufacturing or service sectors who needs to translate customer requirements into design specifications will benefit.

Is the QFD course worth it for my career?

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No. The course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles. Familiarity with product development or quality concepts is helpful but not required, so beginners and experienced professionals can both benefit.

Is QFD useful for services, not just manufacturing?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the House of Quality applies to any context where customer requirements must become design or delivery specifications, including healthcare, financial services, IT and software design.

    Pricing

How much does the QFD training cost in El Salvador?

Fees depend on the delivery format you choose, in-person, online (live virtual) or corporate group training, and on group size. Pricing is available on request. Contact a learning advisor for a quote tailored to your needs.

What is included in the course fee?

Your fee covers instructor-led training across all QFD modules, hands-on House of Quality exercises, learning materials and a course completion record from Invensis Learning. Request a quote to see the full inclusions for your chosen format.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the QFD training?

No. Quality Function Deployment training is a non-certification course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction exercises, case studies and team discussion during the programme.

What will I receive after completing the course?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. There is no external credential or awarding body; the value is in the practical QFD and House of Quality skills you can apply straight away.

How is learning assessed during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Instead, you build and interpret QFD matrices through practical exercises, so you leave able to run VOC workshops and construct a House of Quality with confidence.

Do I need a Six Sigma background first?

No. QFD is taught from first principles. That said, it complements Design for Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma work, where QFD is used to translate the Voice of the Customer into critical-to-quality requirements.

How long is the QFD training?

The course runs for one day, around 8 hours, and can also be delivered as two half-day sessions. It covers QFD foundations, the Voice of the Customer, the full House of Quality, four-phase cascading and QFD in Six Sigma and services.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The course covers QFD principles and origins, capturing and structuring the Voice of the Customer, building the six rooms of the House of Quality, interpreting the matrix, cascading QFD through four phases, and applying QFD in DFSS, DMAIC and service design.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. It links customer requirements to measurable engineering characteristics, rates the strength of each relationship, benchmarks against competitors, and sets design targets, all anchored to customer priorities.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. You build a complete House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario, classify requirements with the Kano model, calculate column importance and identify design conflicts, so the learning stays practical throughout.

What are the four phases of QFD?

QFD cascades through four phases: product planning (the House of Quality), parts deployment, process planning and production planning. This keeps a traceable link from every customer requirement through to production controls.

    What materials are provided?

You receive structured courseware, House of Quality templates and worked examples covering VOC capture, the Kano model, the relationship and correlation matrices, and QFD cascading, all usable in your own projects.

How do I enrol in the QFD training in El Salvador?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete your booking, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing.

The course is available as in-person classroom training, online (live virtual) instructor-led training, and customised corporate on-site sessions, so you can pick the format that fits your schedule and team.

When can I start the training?
