Governance Pressures Fuelling Demand in Singapore

    MAS TRM Compliance Load

Singapore's MAS Technology Risk Management Guidelines demand board-level IT governance and clear accountability, yet many institutions lack a structured improvement programme, the exact gap this credential closes.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds the lifecycle skills to respond

    Third-Party Risk Scrutiny

The 2026 MAS Third-Party Risk Management consultation extends oversight to all financial institutions, raising demand for leaders who can embed governance across vendors and services.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds governance and control skills

    Framework Adoption Failures

Governance frameworks fail on poor adoption, not poor design. The COBIT 5 change enablement cycle equips leaders to build awareness, desire, knowledge, ability and reinforcement.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds change enablement skills

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Boards fund digital and AI programmes but struggle to link IT investment to outcomes, so governance leaders who can prioritise using the goals cascade are now hired to fix value leakage.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds prioritisation skills

    Public-Sector Digital Scale

Smart Nation and GovTech initiatives run large, complex IT estates that need seven-phase governance improvement, risk aggregation and cross-programme coordination at scale.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds programme management skills

    Governance Talent Scarcity

Singapore has deep project talent but few credentialed governance programme leaders. The intermediate credential and open-book exam make holders rare and sought-after.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the COBIT 5 Implementation course?

You will learn to apply the COBIT 5 implementation approach across four areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, all at application level.

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

The seven phases are: what are the drivers, where are we now, where do we want to be, what needs to be done, how do we get there, did we get there, and how do we keep the momentum going. The lifecycle is a continuous improvement cycle, not a one-time project.

Can I take this if I only recently completed Foundation?

Yes. As long as you hold COBIT 5 Foundation, you can take the Implementation course. It builds on Foundation concepts and applies them to realistic governance improvement scenarios, with trainer guidance and practice throughout.

    How long is the training?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered over two full days or four half-days. It covers all four topic areas at application level and prepares you for the open-book exam.
