Who offers the DevOps Foundation certification?

The DevOps Foundation certification is offered by the DevOps Institute, a globally recognised professional membership body, with exams delivered in partnership with PeopleCert. Invensis Learning is an authorised training provider aligned to the official DevOps Foundation Exam Blueprint.

How long is the DevOps Foundation certification valid?

DevOps Foundation is valid for three years. To keep it current you renew every three years by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities.

What is the format of the DevOps Foundation exam?

The DevOps Foundation exam is closed book and uses single-answer multiple-choice questions based on the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge and the DevOps Institute Exam Blueprint. It is taken online with PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions and you have 60 minutes (one hour) to complete it. The questions cover the six topic areas of the DevOps Foundation Exam Blueprint.

What is the passing score for DevOps Foundation?

The passing score is 65%, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly. Broad understanding across all six topic areas is the best way to prepare.

Where can I take the DevOps Foundation exam?

You can take the exam online from home or the office through PeopleCert OnVUE online proctoring, or at an authorised test centre. The exam is often arranged through your training provider as part of a training and exam package.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can resit the DevOps Foundation exam. Our training includes mock exams, practice questions and first-attempt guidance to help you prepare with confidence. Verify the current resit policy and any fees with your learning advisor before booking.

Course Content

What topics does DevOps Foundation training cover?

The course covers the six topic areas of the Exam Blueprint: DevOps Foundations (16%), DevOps Concepts and Practices (18%), Agile, ITSM and Lean IT (14%), the DevOps Continuous Delivery Pipeline (20%), Automation and Tooling (12%), and DevOps Culture and Organisation (20%).

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. DevOps Foundation is built for beginners as well as experienced staff, with no prerequisites. The training starts from the history and definition of DevOps and builds up through practices, the delivery pipeline and culture, so newcomers can follow along.

What are the Three Ways and CALMS?

The Three Ways are Flow, Feedback and Continual Learning, the core principles of DevOps. CALMS stands for Culture, Automation, Lean, Measurement and Sharing, a model for assessing and developing DevOps capability. Both are covered in detail in the course.

What are the DORA metrics?

The four DORA metrics are Deployment Frequency, Lead Time for Changes, Change Failure Rate and Mean Time to Restore (MTTR). They measure software delivery performance and DevOps capability, and the course explains how teams use them.

Which standard is the training based on and are materials provided?

The training is aligned to the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge and the current DevOps Institute Exam Blueprint. You receive DevOps Institute-aligned courseware, case studies, practice questions and mock exams to support your preparation.
