What Is the COBIT 5 Implementation Certification?UntitledA Practitioner Route into IT Governance

The COBIT 5 Implementation (COBIT 5-I) certification is the intermediate-level qualification for professionals who plan and lead a COBIT 5 based governance improvement programme. COBIT 5 Implementation certification training in Sweden equips IT governance managers, consultants and GRC leads to apply the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement in real organisational settings. Aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and grounded in the COBIT 5 framework, the programme covers exactly what the credential validates: turning governance drivers into a funded roadmap, embedding change, and sustaining improvement. COBIT 5 Foundation is the prerequisite, so the training builds on framework knowledge you already hold and takes it to application level. With Sweden's new Cybersakerhetslagen (NIS2) now in force and DORA reshaping financial-sector oversight, employers from banking to the public sector need leaders who can raise governance maturity. Start your COBIT 5 Implementation journey with Invensis Learning and move from study to certified with a clear, supported path.

What Is Fuelling IT Governance Demand in Sweden

NIS2 Is Now Law in Sweden

The Cybersakerhetslagen took effect in January 2026, covering 18 critical sectors with board-level accountability. Organisations need a structured route to compliance, exactly what the implementation lifecycle delivers.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds governance improvement skills

    DORA and Financial Resilience

DORA requires banks, insurers and investment firms to prove digital operational resilience. Finansinspektionen is reviewing selected entities, driving demand for leaders who can raise governance maturity quickly.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds governance maturity skills

    The Strategy-To-Execution Gap

Swedish boards fund ambitious digital and AI programmes, but weak links between strategy and IT governance cause value leakage. Governance-grade prioritisation closes that gap.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds prioritisation skills

    Governance Talent Scarcity

Sweden has a deep pool of IT delivery talent but few certified governance leaders. The intermediate credential and open-book exam make holders rare and sought-after.

COBIT 5 Implementation makes certified leaders stand out

    AI and Cloud Complexity

Rapid AI adoption and cloud migration expand the IT estate and its risks. Embedding COBIT 5 practices keeps governance relevant as the environment evolves.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds continuous improvement skills

    Audit and Compliance Pressure

Recurring audit findings and rising regulatory scrutiny push organisations to institutionalise governance rather than firefight. Continuous improvement is the answer.

    After COBIT 5

Eligible for IT governance, GRC and audit roles riding NIS2 and DORA demand

    Today

    After COBIT 5

Fluent in turning governance drivers into a funded, benefits-tracked roadmap

You earn your COBIT 5 Implementation

    Before

Governance authority resting on job title, not a recognised credential

    Now you have

A globally recognised, intermediate COBIT 5 governance credential

    Before

Comfortable with the framework, but not with leading its implementation

    Now you have

The ability to run the seven-phase lifecycle from drivers to sustained improvement

    Before

Change initiatives stalling because adoption is treated as an afterthought

    Now you have

Change enablement skills that make new governance practices stick

    Before

Recognition fading when you move sector or employer

    Now you have

A credential valued across banking, tech, the public sector and consulting

"The distance between knowing the framework and leading its implementation is a recognised credential, and Swedish employers already know it."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

COBIT 5 Implementation is the intermediate-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to apply the COBIT 5 implementation approach to plan and manage a governance improvement programme, covering the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

    General

What is the COBIT 5 Implementation certification?

COBIT 5 Implementation is the intermediate-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to apply the COBIT 5 implementation approach to plan and manage a governance improvement programme, covering the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

Who should take COBIT 5 Implementation training in Sweden?

It suits IT governance managers, governance consultants, IT auditors, GRC and compliance leads, and enterprise architects who lead or support governance improvement. In Sweden it is especially relevant to teams responding to NIS2 and DORA.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation recognised in Sweden?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and the Implementation credential is valued by employers across banking, telecoms, the public sector and consulting. PeopleCert, which delivers the exam, operates in over 200 countries.

What are the prerequisites for COBIT 5 Implementation?

You must hold COBIT 5 Foundation before sitting the Implementation exam. Foundation knowledge, such as the five principles and seven enablers, is assumed and not re-taught, so the training focuses on applying the framework at implementation level.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation worth it in Sweden?

For governance professionals, yes. Roles such as IT compliance manager average around 756,000 kr a year in Sweden, and demand is rising as NIS2 and DORA force organisations to raise governance maturity. The credential helps you stand out for these roles. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

How does COBIT 5 Implementation differ from Foundation?

Foundation validates knowledge of the COBIT 5 framework at awareness level. Implementation is application level: an open-book exam that tests whether you can apply the lifecycle, change enablement and programme management to realistic governance improvement scenarios. Foundation is the prerequisite.

    Pricing

How much does COBIT 5 Implementation training cost in Sweden?

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing exam based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted, and questions require scenario-based analysis.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has four questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total. You have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it.

What is the passing score for the exam?

The pass mark is 50 percent, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because it is scenario based, aim for broad, applied mastery across all four topic areas.

Which books are allowed in the open-book exam?

Only two: the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide. No other materials are permitted, so the training includes technique for navigating both efficiently under time pressure.

How and where do I sit the exam?

The exam is delivered through PeopleCert, either online proctored via the OnVUE system, available around the clock, or at an authorised test centre. You can sit it from an office or home in Sweden with a stable connection.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert. Our training includes mock questions and first-attempt guidance to reduce that risk, and our team can advise on the current re-sit policy. Verify re-sit fees on the PeopleCert portal.

    Course Content

What topics does COBIT 5 Implementation training cover?

The programme covers four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, all at application level and aligned to the 2022 syllabus.

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

Phase 1 what are the drivers, Phase 2 where are we now, Phase 3 where do we want to be, Phase 4 what needs to be done, Phase 5 how do we get there, Phase 6 did we get there, and Phase 7 how do we keep the momentum going. It is a continuous cycle, not a one-off project.

Do I need prior experience or COBIT 5 Foundation?

You need COBIT 5 Foundation to sit the Implementation exam, as Foundation knowledge is assumed. No formal work experience is required, though the level is designed for people who lead or support governance improvement programmes.

Which syllabus version is the course aligned to?

The course is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version), built on the COBIT 5 framework and the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide. This is the current basis for the Implementation exam.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive COBIT 5 Implementation aligned courseware, industry case studies illustrating the lifecycle and change enablement, practice questions and mock exams, plus first-attempt guidance to support your preparation.

How do I enrol in COBIT 5 Implementation training in Sweden?
