VeriSM Foundation is an entry-level EXIN credential that validates your understanding of VeriSM, a flexible service management approach for the digital age. General

What is the VeriSM Foundation certification and who is it for?

VeriSM Foundation is an entry-level EXIN credential that validates your understanding of VeriSM, a flexible service management approach for the digital age. It suits IT and business professionals in Rwanda, from service desk and operations staff to business people working alongside IT teams, with no prior experience required.

Is VeriSM Foundation worth it for my career in Rwanda?

Yes. As Rwanda's ICT sector, banks and government digital services expand, employers value professionals who can align service delivery with strategy. VeriSM Foundation gives you a recognised, modern credential that maps to IT service, delivery and operations roles across Kigali and beyond.

Who awards the VeriSM Foundation credential?

The credential is awarded by EXIN, an internationally recognised examination institute operating in over 165 countries. VeriSM itself is a framework developed by the IFDC, and the exam is based on the EXIN VeriSM Foundation Examination Specification.

How long is the VeriSM Foundation certification valid?

VeriSM Foundation is valid for lifetime. The credential does not expire, and there is no renewal, re-examination or continuing-education requirement once you have passed.

How does VeriSM differ from ITIL?

ITIL is a prescriptive service management framework, while VeriSM positions ITIL as one of many practices you can use within its management mesh. VeriSM gives organisations a model to select and combine practices such as ITIL, Agile, DevOps and Lean for their context, so the two are complementary.

    Exam

What is the format of the VeriSM Foundation exam?

The EXIN VeriSM Foundation exam is closed book with single-answer multiple-choice questions. It can be taken online through EXIN's proctored system or at an accredited testing location, and is often arranged through an accredited training provider.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes. There are no formal prerequisites, so you can sit it whatever your background.

What is the passing score for VeriSM Foundation?

The pass mark is 65%, meaning you need at least 26 of the 40 questions correct. Preparation across all seven topic areas is the best way to pass comfortably.

Are there any prerequisites to sit the exam?

No. VeriSM Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is the entry point to the EXIN VeriSM scheme. It is open to all, regardless of education, experience or prior service management knowledge, though accredited training is recommended.

What if I do not pass on my first attempt?

You can re-sit the EXIN exam by purchasing another voucher. Our practice questions, mock exams and trainer support are designed to help you pass the first time, so focus on broad mastery across the seven topic areas.

    Course Content

What topics does the VeriSM Foundation course cover?

The course covers all seven EXIN topic areas: the service organisation, service culture, people and organisational structure, the VeriSM model, progressive practices, innovative technologies and getting started. The VeriSM model carries the largest weighting at 25%.

Do I need prior service management experience?

No prior experience is needed. VeriSM Foundation is designed to be accessible to IT and business professionals alike, and the training builds the concepts from the ground up, so beginners are well supported.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock exams mapped to the 40-question, 60-minute EXIN format, so you can identify weak areas and build exam readiness before the real exam.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest EXIN specification?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current EXIN VeriSM Foundation Examination Specification and the VeriSM framework developed by the IFDC, so what you study matches what the exam assesses.

How long is the VeriSM Foundation training?

The programme runs for around 16 hours, usually delivered over two days. It serves as both exam preparation and foundational VeriSM knowledge development for your role.
