Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

EXIN SIAM Foundation is the entry-level credential that validates your understanding of Service Integration and Management (SIAM): how to govern multiple IT service providers under one coordinated model. It covers SIAM concepts, structures, roles, processes and governance, and it is the first level in the EXIN SIAM scheme.

    General

What is the EXIN SIAM Foundation certification?

EXIN SIAM Foundation is the entry-level credential that validates your understanding of Service Integration and Management (SIAM): how to govern multiple IT service providers under one coordinated model. It covers SIAM concepts, structures, roles, processes and governance, and it is the first level in the EXIN SIAM scheme.

Is SIAM Foundation worth it for professionals in Rwanda?

Yes. As Rwanda scales digital government, banking, telecoms and outsourcing through many suppliers, employers increasingly need people who can coordinate providers and protect end-to-end service. SIAM Foundation gives you that governance vocabulary and a globally recognised, lifetime EXIN credential. Talk to a learning advisor to see how it fits your career.

Who should take the SIAM Foundation course?

It suits IT service management professionals in multi-supplier settings: service desk and incident managers, service owners, supplier and sourcing specialists, and staff at managed service providers. ITIL Foundation holders and anyone entering ITSM also benefit, as SIAM complements existing service management knowledge.

Are there any prerequisites for SIAM Foundation?

No. EXIN SIAM Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Basic familiarity with IT service management concepts, such as from ITIL Foundation, is helpful but not required.

How long is the certification valid?

The EXIN SIAM Foundation certification is valid for life. It does not expire and requires no renewal, re-examination or continuing education.

What is SIAM in simple terms?

Service Integration and Management is a way of managing environments where several providers deliver IT services to one organisation. A service integrator layer coordinates those providers so the customer receives one accountable, end-to-end service.

    Pricing

How much does SIAM Foundation training cost in Rwanda?

Is the EXIN exam fee included in the price?

    Exam

What is the format of the SIAM Foundation exam?

The EXIN SIAM Foundation exam is closed book with 40 single-answer multiple-choice questions. You have 60 minutes, and the pass mark is 65%, meaning 26 of 40 questions correct.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

There are 40 multiple-choice questions to answer in 60 minutes. It is a closed-book exam based on the EXIN SIAM Foundation Examination Specification.

What is the passing score for the exam?

You need 65% to pass, which is 26 out of 40 questions correct.

How and where do I take the exam?

You can sit the exam online through EXIN's online proctoring system or at an EXIN accredited test location. It is often arranged through an accredited training provider as part of a training and exam bundle.

What topics does the exam cover?

The exam covers seven topic areas from the EXIN SIAM Foundation Examination Specification: introduction to SIAM, the implementation roadmap, roles and responsibilities, SIAM practices, supporting processes, challenges and risks, and SIAM alongside other practices.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the EXIN exam; re-sit policies and fees are set by EXIN. Our training includes exam-focused practice and support to help you prepare thoroughly the first time.

    Course Content

Can a beginner take SIAM Foundation?

Yes. There are no prerequisites, and the course starts from core SIAM concepts. A basic understanding of IT service management helps, but the training builds the knowledge you need from the ground up.

What will I learn in the SIAM Foundation course?

You will learn the SIAM model and ecosystem, the implementation roadmap, roles across the three layers, integrated processes and practices, challenges and risks, and how SIAM aligns with ITIL, COBIT, ISO/IEC 20000, Agile and DevOps.

Which standard is the course based on?

The course aligns to the EXIN SIAM Foundation Examination Specification and the SIAM Body of Knowledge (SIAM BoK) published by Scopism, which is the primary reference for the exam.

How is the training delivered and how long is it?

SIAM Foundation is typically delivered over about 16 hours, as two full days or four half-days, in live virtual, classroom or corporate formats. You also receive courseware and practice materials.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and mock assessments mapped to the exam topics, so you can identify weak areas and build confidence before the EXIN exam.

How does SIAM relate to ITIL?

SIAM and ITIL are complementary. ITIL provides the service management processes, while SIAM adds the multi-supplier integration and governance layer. ITIL knowledge is helpful but not required for SIAM Foundation.
