    General

What is the COBIT 5 Implementation certification?

COBIT 5 Implementation is the intermediate-level certification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to apply the COBIT 5 approach to plan and lead a governance improvement programme, covering the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation worth it for professionals in Rwanda?

Yes. As Rwanda scales digital services under Vision 2050 and the National Bank of Rwanda tightens ICT risk expectations, employers value professionals who can lead and evidence IT governance improvement. The credential supports roles from GRC analyst to IT governance manager and IT director.

It suits IT governance managers, IT risk and compliance leads, IT auditors, consultants, enterprise architects, CIOs leading governance transformation, and COBIT 5 Foundation holders progressing to the intermediate level.

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation before Implementation?

Yes. COBIT 5 Foundation is the mandatory prerequisite. Candidates who do not hold Foundation must take and pass it before sitting the Implementation exam, as Foundation knowledge of the framework is assumed throughout.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and the Implementation credential is valued by employers worldwide for governance programme leadership, consulting and GRC roles. The exam is delivered by PeopleCert, which operates in over 200 countries.

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

The exam is open book with four questions, each worth 20 marks for 80 marks in total, completed in 2 and a half hours (150 minutes). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted.

What is the passing score for the exam?

How is the COBIT 5 Implementation exam delivered?

The exam is delivered by PeopleCert, either online proctored through the PeopleCert OnVUE system, available 24/7, or at a PeopleCert authorised test centre. You can choose whichever option is more convenient.

Which syllabus is the exam based on?

The exam is based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and the COBIT 5 framework, covering the need for a governance framework, the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Implementation training cover?

The training covers four topic areas at application level: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, plus open-book exam technique.

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

The phases are: what are the drivers; where are we now; where do we want to be; what needs to be done; how do we get there; did we get there; and how do we keep the momentum going. It is designed as a continuous cycle, not a one-time project.

Can a COBIT 5 Foundation holder take this course?

Yes. The course is designed for Foundation holders progressing to the intermediate level. Foundation concepts such as the five principles and seven enablers are assumed and not re-taught, so you build directly on that knowledge.

Are mock exams and practice questions included?

Yes. The programme includes COBIT 5 Implementation practice questions, mock exams and scenario-based exercises to help you identify weak areas and build readiness for the open-book paper.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide, so what you study matches what the exam assesses.
