The Market Forces Making Program Leaders Essential

    Governance Maturity Gap

Enterprises run dozens of concurrent projects but often lack a program-level governance layer that ties them to strategy, the exact gap the PgMP is built to close.

PgMP builds strategic alignment and governance skills

    Strategy-Execution Gap

Boards approve transformation and capital programs, but weak links between strategy and the funded work cause value leakage that program leaders are now hired to fix.

PgMP builds benefits and value-realization skills

    Digital Transformation at Scale

AI, cloud and platform modernization now span many interdependent projects, demanding program-grade coordination, risk aggregation and benefits management.

PgMP builds program coordination and risk skills

    Program Talent Scarcity

The talent pool is deep in project managers but thin in credentialed program managers. The PgMP's rigorous eligibility and panel review make holders rare and valued.

PgMP makes certified program leaders stand out

    Benefits Realization Pressure

Leaders increasingly fund programs on the benefits they deliver, not the outputs they ship, raising demand for professionals who can plan, measure and sustain value.

PgMP builds benefits planning and tracking skills

    Rising Program Complexity

Multi-vendor, multi-region programs carry dependencies and risks a single project manager rarely faces, so employers seek proven program-level leadership.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated program to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior program managers, PMP holders moving up, PMO leaders and business transformation directors with substantial program experience.

    General

What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated program to deliver strategic benefits. It is designed for senior program managers, PMP holders moving up, PMO leaders and business transformation directors with substantial program experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for senior program managers?

Yes. The PgMP validates expert-level program leadership and is held by fewer than 3,000 practitioners worldwide, making it a strong differentiator. Certified holders report a 10 to 25 percent salary premium over PMP peers and are prioritized for director and VP-level roles. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Is PMP required before taking the PgMP?

No. A PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their program management experience.

How is the PgMP different from the PMP?

The PMP validates managing individual projects, while the PgMP validates managing multiple related projects as a program to deliver strategic benefits that individual projects cannot. The PgMP is more senior, with tougher prerequisites and an additional panel review.

How long is the PgMP valid and how do I renew it?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

How much does PgMP training cost?

PgMP training fees vary by format and provider, and instructor-led and corporate options are priced differently. The PMI exam fee is billed separately and is not part of the training fee. Request a quote for current pricing and group rates.

What is included in the PgMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, application and panel-review support, learner support, and a course completion certificate with contact hours. The PMI exam fee is paid separately to PMI.

How much is the PgMP exam fee?

For reference, the PMI exam fee is around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members, billed separately to PMI. Prices vary by region, so confirm the current fee at pmi.org. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customized schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs, business units and leadership teams. Ask about corporate or group pricing for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer installment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario-based questions across five performance domains.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and an allotted time of four hours. It is delivered online through Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test center.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%).

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of program management practitioners evaluates your documented program experience. It is a mandatory step in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

What is the passing score and how many attempts do I get?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number; results are reported with domain-level feedback. You may take up to three attempts within the one-year eligibility window from application approval.

    Course Content

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus application and panel-review preparation and exam strategy.

What standard and syllabus is the course based on?

The course is aligned to PMI's Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the current PgMP Examination Content Outline, so your preparation maps directly to what the exam evaluates.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The program includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes aligned to the 170-question, four-hour format to help you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

Anyone can attend the training, but the PgMP itself is a senior credential. To sit the exam PMI requires several years of project and program management experience, and the course helps you prepare and document that experience.

Will I get a certificate of completion?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the program, which also count toward your PMI application and PDUs.

    Enrollment

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three eligibility sets. With a bachelor's degree you need 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 48 months of program management experience within the last 15 years; a secondary diploma requires 84 months of program experience.

How do I enroll in the PgMP course?

You can enroll through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. See upcoming batches to get started.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, self-paced e-learning, and customized corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning style.

Can I reschedule to another batch?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans include a Flexi Pass to attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back guarantee. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrollment.
