The Project Controls Gaps Driving P6 Demand

    Megaproject Wave, Too Few Planners

A global surge in data centers, grids, semiconductor fabs, and energy projects is colliding with an aging workforce, leaving employers short of planners who can run enterprise schedules.

P6 skills meet a real talent shortage

    Schedules Written into Contracts

On EPC and infrastructure work, P6 schedules and progress reports are contractual deliverables. Teams without skilled P6 users struggle to submit credible, defensible programs.

    P6 builds contract-grade scheduling

    Cost and Schedule Rarely Integrated

Many projects track cost and schedule separately, causing value leakage. Resource-loaded P6 schedules and earned value close that gap and need skilled planners to run them.

    P6 builds earned value discipline

    Spreadsheets Do Not Scale

Complex, multi-year programs outgrow spreadsheets and basic tools fast. Employers need people who can plan, baseline, and control large projects in enterprise-grade P6.

    P6 controls large, complex programs

    Digital Project Controls Now Expected

Earned value, critical path analysis, and schedule-quality checks are baseline expectations in 2026. Planners fluent in P6 analytics stand out from those who only enter data.

    P6 analytics set planners apart

    Capital Discipline Raises the Bar

Tighter capital and margin pressure push owners to optimize portfolios and kill low-value work. That makes planners who can forecast and rebalance schedules increasingly valuable.

Oracle Primavera P6 Training is a practical, instructor-led course that teaches you to plan, schedule, resource-load, and control projects using Primavera P6, Oracle's enterprise scheduling software. It is available at Fundamentals and Advanced levels and focuses on hands-on skills you can apply at work.

Who should take this Primavera P6 course?

It suits project planners, schedulers, project engineers, project controls professionals, and project managers, especially in construction, engineering, oil and gas, utilities, and infrastructure. Both newcomers to P6 and occasional users who want confident, practical skills benefit from it.

Is Primavera P6 worth learning in 2026?

Yes. Primavera P6 is the scheduling standard on large capital projects, and a global wave of megaprojects, data centers, and energy work is driving strong demand for skilled planners. P6 proficiency is one of the most recognized and transferable skills in project controls.

Do I get a certificate after the training?

You receive a course completion record from Invensis Learning. This is a hands-on skills program focused on building real P6 capability rather than awarding a formal credential, so the value is in the proficiency you can apply on live projects right away.

How is Primavera P6 different from Microsoft Project?

Both plan and schedule projects, but Primavera P6 is built for large, complex, enterprise-scale programs and is the standard in construction, engineering, and energy. Microsoft Project is more common in IT and general business. Many project controls professionals learn both.

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and installment options are available on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you, or request a quote to see current pricing.

    Course Content

What topics does the Fundamentals level cover?

Fundamentals (2 days) covers the P6 enterprise structure (EPS, OBS, WBS), creating and scheduling activities, relationships and the critical path, resource assignment, setting baselines, and updating progress, all taught with hands-on exercises on realistic project scenarios.

What does the Advanced level add?

Advanced (3 days) builds on Fundamentals with advanced scheduling, resource and cost loading, earned value management, multiple baselines and Claim Digger schedule comparison, multi-project programs, and custom reporting with Excel integration.

How long is each level of the training?

Fundamentals runs for 2 days (16 hours) and Advanced for 3 days (24 hours). Both are available as full-day or extended half-day formats. You can attend either level on its own or take them in sequence.

Is the training hands-on or theory-based?

It is highly hands-on. The trainer demonstrates each P6 feature while you follow along in the software, then you practice on realistic construction and engineering scenarios, so you build genuine proficiency rather than just watching.

Do I need prior Primavera P6 experience?

For Fundamentals, no. It is designed for people new to Primavera P6, though basic project management familiarity helps. For Advanced, you should have completed Fundamentals or have equivalent hands-on P6 experience.

    Enrollment

How do I enroll in the Primavera P6 course?

You can enroll through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your level and preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware, and learning resources. A learning advisor can help you pick the right option.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom sessions, onsite delivery, and customized corporate group training. This lets you choose the format that fits your schedule, whether you learn as an individual or with a team.

Can I train my whole team together?

Yes. Corporate group training lets you upskill a planning team, PMO, or project controls department together on one consistent P6 approach, with schedules and examples tailored to your organization. Ask about corporate and group pricing.

    How soon can I start?

New public batches run regularly in live virtual and classroom formats, and corporate sessions are scheduled around your team's availability. Check upcoming schedules or talk to a learning advisor to find the next start date that works for you.

Can I reschedule my enrollment to another batch?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or move to another batch on selected plans. Contact our support team to arrange this and confirm the terms that apply to your enrollment.

    Levels And Prerequisites

Should I take Fundamentals or Advanced?

Take Fundamentals if you are new to Primavera P6 or use it only occasionally and want a solid foundation. Take Advanced if you already use P6 regularly and want to master resource and cost loading, earned value, and multi-project control. Both can be taken in sequence.

What are the prerequisites for Fundamentals?

There are none. Fundamentals is designed for people new to Primavera P6. Familiarity with basic project ideas like activities, dependencies, and resources is helpful but not required, and the training builds everything from the ground up.

What are the prerequisites for Advanced?

You should have completed the Primavera P6 Fundamentals course or have equivalent hands-on experience using P6. Advanced moves quickly into cost loading, earned value, and enterprise features, so a working foundation in core P6 scheduling is expected.

What will I be able to do after Fundamentals?

You will be able to set up a project in P6, build and schedule an activity network, read the critical path and float, assign resources, set a baseline, update progress, and produce basic layouts and reports for a real project.

What will I be able to do after Advanced?

You will be able to fully resource and cost load a schedule, calculate and report earned value, compare schedules with Claim Digger, manage multiple projects with cross-project links, and build custom reports and dashboards for project controls.
