PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) is the Project Management Institute's specialist credential for the construction industry. It suits construction project managers, site and project engineers moving up, owner's representatives and PMP holders working in construction who want to prove construction-specific delivery skill.

PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) is the Project Management Institute's specialist credential for the construction industry. It suits construction project managers, site and project engineers moving up, owner's representatives and PMP holders working in construction who want to prove construction-specific delivery skill.

Yes. With Metro Line 3, Panama Canal Authority programmes and a busy transport, energy and building pipeline, employers increasingly want credentialed construction project leaders. PMI-CP validates the contract, stakeholder and governance skills these projects demand, and holders remain rare in the local market.

The PMI-CP is built around the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO), PMI's globally recognised project management framework and the PMBOK Guide, applied to construction. It is governed by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can count toward renewal.

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition across more than 200 countries. It is valued in international construction markets, including Panama, where employers seek globally recognised project management credentials on major projects.

    General

What is the PMI-CP certification and who is it for?

PMI-CP (PMI Construction Professional) is the Project Management Institute's specialist credential for the construction industry. It suits construction project managers, site and project engineers moving up, owner's representatives and PMP holders working in construction who want to prove construction-specific delivery skill.

Is the PMI-CP worth it for construction professionals in Panama?

Yes. With Metro Line 3, Panama Canal Authority programmes and a busy transport, energy and building pipeline, employers increasingly want credentialed construction project leaders. PMI-CP validates the contract, stakeholder and governance skills these projects demand, and holders remain rare in the local market.

What standard is the PMI-CP based on?

The PMI-CP is built around the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline (ECO), PMI's globally recognised project management framework and the PMBOK Guide, applied to construction. It is governed by the Project Management Institute (PMI).

Is the PMP required before the PMI-CP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for PMI-CP. You can apply based on your construction project management experience and education. The two credentials are complementary, with PMP covering general project management and PMI-CP validating construction-specific expertise.

How long is the PMI-CP valid and how is it renewed?

PMI-CP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle within each three-year cycle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area. The 56 PDUs from the four prerequisite modules can count toward renewal.

    Is the PMI-CP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, PMI-CP carries global recognition across more than 200 countries. It is valued in international construction markets, including Panama, where employers seek globally recognised project management credentials on major projects.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-CP training fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned construction courseware, practice questions, mock exams mapped to the 120-question format, guidance on the four prerequisite modules and the PMI-CP application, learner support and a course completion certificate. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does PMI-CP training cost in Panama?

PMI-CP training in Panama is priced by format and available on request. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for a tailored quote.

How much is the PMI-CP exam fee?

PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD, and member and non-member rates apply. PMI membership reduces the exam cost and gives access to PMI resources. Confirm the current exam and membership fees on the PMI website before applying.

Do you offer group or corporate pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for construction firms and project teams. Contact us for a tailored group quote for your organisation.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-CP exam?

The PMI-CP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PMI-CP Examination Content Outline. It uses single-answer and multiple-answer questions delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

How many questions are on the PMI-CP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 120 questions and an allotted time of 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes).

What domains does the PMI-CP exam cover?

The exam covers four domains: Contracts Management (50%), Stakeholder Engagement (30%), Strategy and Scope Management (15%) and Project Governance (5%).

What are the prerequisites for the PMI-CP exam?

You must complete all four self-paced prerequisite modules and meet one of three sets: a secondary diploma with 60 months construction PM experience, a bachelor's degree with 36 months, or a GAC-accredited degree with 24 months, each within the past 10 years, plus 35 contact hours of PM education.

What is the passing score and how many attempts do I get?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score, so no fixed percentage is published. Results are reported with domain-level feedback. You get up to three attempts within a one-year eligibility window from application approval.

Where can I take the PMI-CP exam?

You can take the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMI-CP training?

You learn to manage construction contracts and delivery methods, process change orders and claims, engage stakeholders and regulators, control scope, schedule, cost and risk, and govern project delivery, mapped across all four PMI-CP exam domains.

Does the training cover the four prerequisite modules?

The training focuses on exam preparation and provides guidance on completing the four mandatory self-paced modules: Project Communications, Interface Management, Scope and Change Order Management, and Contract and Risk Management. Each awards 14 PDUs, for 56 in total.

    What learning resources are provided?

You receive PMI-aligned construction courseware, references to the PMI-CP ECO and Handbook, practice questions, mock exams and topic-wise quizzes to build exam readiness.

Do I need construction experience to take the training?

You can enrol in the training at any stage, but sitting the exam requires construction project management experience under one of PMI's three eligibility sets. Our team can help you check where you stand before you apply.

Does this training meet the 35 contact hours requirement?

The instructor-led programme provides 32 contact hours of training, which is close to but below the 35 contact hours PMI requires. Check with our team about supplementary self-study to help you meet the full 35-hour requirement.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the PMI-CP course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you need help choosing.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live online (live virtual) instructor-led training, classroom training and customised corporate group training, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and team.

    How soon can I start?

New cohorts open regularly across live online and classroom formats. See upcoming schedules or speak with a learning advisor to find the next batch that suits you.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch, and selected plans let you attend the training twice. Contact support to arrange this.

Do you help with the PMI-CP application?

Yes. We guide you through documenting your construction project management experience and education and confirming completion of the four prerequisite modules before you submit your PMI application.
