Why QFD Skills Pay off on the JobPractical Value for Product and Quality Teams

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

QFD training helps individual professionals move from intuition-based design to structured, customer-driven design. The course suits product designers, design and quality engineers, product managers, marketing and R&D professionals, and Six Sigma practitioners who want to translate customer requirements into specifications reliably. Whether you are launching a new product, improving an existing one, or supporting a service redesign, you gain a repeatable method that connects the Voice of the Customer to every design and process decision.

You leave able to facilitate a Voice of the Customer session, construct the House of Quality, calculate design priorities, and cascade requirements through the four-phase QFD system. These are skills you can apply to your own products and services the very next working day.

    • Turn vague customer feedback into clear, measurable design requirements
    • Build and interpret a full House of Quality with confidence
    • Prioritise design effort on the characteristics customers value most
    • Spot and resolve design conflicts early, before costly prototypes

Market Forces Driving Demand for QFD Skills in Oman

    Quality-Led Diversification Under Vision 2040

As Oman shifts from oil toward manufacturing as its lead growth driver, product quality and customer fit become decisive. QFD gives teams a structured way to design that quality in from the start.

    QFD builds customer-driven design skills

Local Content Raising the Quality Bar

Local content mandates push Omani-made products to meet demanding customer and export requirements. QFD helps translate those requirements into clear engineering and process targets.

QFD links customer needs to specifications

Competing on Exports from Sohar and Duqm

Manufacturers exporting from Sohar and Duqm must design to international customer expectations. The House of Quality makes those expectations visible and traceable through the whole design.

    QFD supports export-ready product design

    Costly Late-Stage Design Changes

Design conflicts found late in development drive rework, delay and cost. QFD surfaces trade-offs and hot spots early, so teams resolve them before expensive prototypes and production.

QFD reduces rework and design iterations

The Voice of the Customer Gets Lost

Customer needs are often lost in the handoff between marketing and engineering. QFD keeps the Voice of the Customer visible and weighted at every stage from planning to production.

    QFD keeps requirements traceable

    Scarce Customer-Driven Design Talent

Oman's talent pool is strong in project delivery but thinner in structured, customer-driven product design. QFD practitioners who can run a House of Quality are in short supply and valued.

QFD makes skilled practitioners stand out

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method that translates the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and process characteristics. Its main tool is the House of Quality, a planning matrix that links what customers want to how a product or service is designed and delivered.

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method that translates the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and process characteristics. Its main tool is the House of Quality, a planning matrix that links what customers want to how a product or service is designed and delivered.

The course suits product designers and design engineers, quality engineers, product managers, marketing and R&D professionals, NPD project managers, and Six Sigma practitioners. Anyone who needs to translate customer requirements into design or service specifications will benefit, regardless of prior QFD knowledge.

Yes. QFD gives you a repeatable way to design products customers actually want, reducing rework and late design changes. As Oman diversifies under Vision 2040 and competes on product quality and exports, customer-driven design is a valued, transferable skill across manufacturing and service sectors.

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with product development, quality management or Six Sigma is helpful but not required, as the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles.

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the House of Quality applies wherever customer requirements must become design or delivery specifications. The course covers QFD for services such as healthcare and financial services, and for software, alongside product development.

    General

What is Quality Function Deployment (QFD)?

Quality Function Deployment is a structured, customer-driven method that translates the Voice of the Customer into specific engineering and process characteristics. Its main tool is the House of Quality, a planning matrix that links what customers want to how a product or service is designed and delivered.

Who should attend QFD training in Oman?

The course suits product designers and design engineers, quality engineers, product managers, marketing and R&D professionals, NPD project managers, and Six Sigma practitioners. Anyone who needs to translate customer requirements into design or service specifications will benefit, regardless of prior QFD knowledge.

Is QFD training worth it for product and quality professionals?

Yes. QFD gives you a repeatable way to design products customers actually want, reducing rework and late design changes. As Oman diversifies under Vision 2040 and competes on product quality and exports, customer-driven design is a valued, transferable skill across manufacturing and service sectors.

Do I need prior experience to take this course?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Familiarity with product development, quality management or Six Sigma is helpful but not required, as the course introduces QFD and the House of Quality from first principles.

Is QFD relevant to service and software teams, not just manufacturing?

Yes. While QFD began in manufacturing, the House of Quality applies wherever customer requirements must become design or delivery specifications. The course covers QFD for services such as healthcare and financial services, and for software, alongside product development.

    Pricing

How much does QFD training cost in Oman?

Fees vary by delivery mode, group size and schedule, and are available on request. Live online, classroom and onsite corporate options are priced differently. Contact a learning advisor for a current quote tailored to how you want to train.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six QFD modules, structured courseware, hands-on House of Quality exercises, case studies, templates and learner support. A course completion certificate is provided on finishing the programme.

Do you offer corporate or group pricing?

Yes. We offer corporate and group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for product, quality and R&D teams. It is well suited to organisations that want to train a cross-functional team together. Ask us about group pricing for your team.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, with instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you or your organisation.

Are there any extra fees beyond the training fee?

No. As a non-certification course there is no separate examination or credential fee. The training fee covers the instructor-led sessions, courseware, House of Quality exercises and learner support. Ask for a quote to see exactly what your chosen format includes.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for QFD training?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on House of Quality construction, case studies and team discussion during the one-day programme, so you practise the method rather than sit a test.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to capture and structure the Voice of the Customer, build and interpret a complete House of Quality, calculate design priorities, resolve conflicts, and cascade requirements through the four-phase QFD system in product and service projects.

How is learning reinforced without an exam?

Through practice. You work through Voice of the Customer structuring, a Kano model exercise, a full House of Quality build from a realistic scenario, and importance calculations, so you leave having applied every step of the method rather than only reading about it.

Do I receive anything on completion?

Yes. On finishing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning, recognising that you have completed practical QFD and House of Quality training. The skills apply immediately and do not expire.

Does this help with Design for Six Sigma or DMAIC projects?

Yes. QFD is a core tool in the Design for Six Sigma Measure phase and the DMAIC Define phase. The course shows how to translate the Voice of the Customer into critical-to-quality characteristics and clear project scope, which strengthens Six Sigma work.

    Course Content

What topics does the QFD course cover?

The one-day course covers six modules: QFD principles and origins, the Voice of the Customer, building the House of Quality, interpreting the House of Quality, cascading QFD through four phases, and applying QFD in Six Sigma, services and software, with hands-on exercises throughout.

What is the House of Quality?

The House of Quality is the central QFD planning matrix. It links customer requirements to measurable engineering characteristics, scores their relationships, maps trade-offs in the correlation roof, benchmarks competitors, and sets engineering targets, all anchored to customer priorities.

Are the four phases of QFD covered?

Yes. The course covers the full four-phase QFD system: product planning, parts deployment, process planning and production planning. You learn how requirements cascade from customer needs down to the controls that monitor production.

    Are there hands-on exercises?

Yes. Practical work runs throughout the day, including Voice of the Customer structuring with affinity diagrams, a Kano model classification exercise, and building a complete House of Quality from a realistic product or service scenario.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive structured courseware, House of Quality templates, worked case studies and exercise materials that support the modules. These resources help you apply the method to your own products and services after the training.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in QFD training in Oman?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Talk to a learning advisor if you would like help choosing a batch.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live online (virtual instructor-led) training, classroom training, and customised onsite corporate delivery across Oman, so you can choose the format that fits your schedule and learning preference.

How long is the QFD course?

The course is delivered as a one-day, eight-hour programme covering all six modules with hands-on House of Quality exercises. An extended two half-day format is also available where it suits working schedules.

Can I arrange onsite team training in Oman?

Yes. We deliver onsite and live virtual corporate training for teams across Oman, with schedules built around your availability. Teams can build a House of Quality for one of their own products during the session. Ask us about corporate delivery.

Can I reschedule or transfer my booking?

Yes. Flexible options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch where needed. Contact our support team to arrange a change to your enrolment.
