The Program Management Professional (PgMP) is PMI's senior credential for professionals who manage multiple related projects as a coordinated programme to deliver strategic benefits. It suits senior programme managers, PMO leaders and directors with substantial programme experience.

Is the PgMP worth it for programme managers in Oman?

Yes. As Oman scales Vision 2040 programmes across energy, government and infrastructure, employers increasingly seek certified programme leaders. The PgMP validates senior capability and, held by fewer than 3,000 people worldwide, is a strong differentiator for programme director and PMO head roles.

Do I need a PMP before taking the PgMP?

No. PMP is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with at least 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

Is the PgMP recognised in Oman and internationally?

Yes. The PgMP is a PMI credential recognised worldwide, including across Oman and the wider GCC. It is referenced by senior employers as a benchmark for programme management excellence in energy, government, construction, telecom and banking.

How much does PgMP training cost in Oman?

Instructor-led PgMP training in Oman is quoted on request and varies by format and cohort. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD and is not part of the training fee. Talk to a learning advisor for current pricing in OMR.

How much is the PgMP exam fee?

For reference, PMI charges around USD 800 for members and USD 1,000 for non-members, and prices may vary by region. PMI membership reduces the exam fee and provides access to the Standard for Program Management. Confirm current fees on pmi.org before applying.

What happens if I do not pass the PgMP exam the first time?

You have up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Our training includes mock exams, practice questions and revision strategy to prepare you thoroughly. Reexamination fees apply to later attempts; confirm current amounts on pmi.org.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour allotted time. It is closed book with multiple-choice questions, delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five performance domains: Strategic Program Management (11%), Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Benefits Management (11%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%) and Governance (18%), as set out in the PgMP Examination Content Outline.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience. Both the panel review and the written exam must be passed to earn the credential.

Where can I take the PgMP exam in Oman?

You can sit the exam online from home or office via Pearson VUE OnVUE proctoring, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal once your application is approved.

Do I need prior experience to join the PgMP training?

Anyone can enrol in the training to build programme knowledge. To sit the exam, PMI requires substantial project and programme management experience under one of three eligibility sets, plus the panel review. We help you check your eligibility.

What topics does the PgMP training cover?

The training covers the five PgMP performance domains: Strategic Program Management, Program Life Cycle Management, Benefits Management, Stakeholder Engagement and Governance, plus guidance on the application, panel review and exam strategy.

Which standard is the PgMP training aligned to?

The training is aligned to PMI's Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition, and the PgMP Examination Content Outline. This ensures the content reflects the current framework and domains the exam evaluates.

Are practice questions and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes aligned to the 170-question, four-hour format, helping you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

How many contact hours does the training provide?

The instructor-led training provides 24 contact hours, delivered over flexible schedules. The PgMP has no mandatory contact-hour prerequisite, so these hours serve as focused exam preparation and knowledge consolidation.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PgMP?

PMI offers three sets. With a bachelor's degree you need 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 48 months of programme experience. With a secondary diploma the programme requirement rises to 84 months. All experience must be within the last 15 years.
