Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMP is PMI's flagship, globally recognised project management credential, validating your ability to lead predictive, agile and hybrid projects and teams. It is designed for experienced project managers, team leads and delivery professionals who want the world's most recognised project management certification.

    General

What is the PMP certification and who is it for?

The PMP is PMI's flagship, globally recognised project management credential, validating your ability to lead predictive, agile and hybrid projects and teams. It is designed for experienced project managers, team leads and delivery professionals who want the world's most recognised project management certification.

Is the PMP worth it for professionals in Auckland?

Yes. Auckland project managers earn around NZ$116,000 on average, rising beyond NZ$143,000 for senior roles, and the PMP is asked for by name across technology, infrastructure and the public sector. With a NZ$275 billion national infrastructure pipeline, certified project leaders are in strong demand. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

What are the prerequisites for the PMP?

There are two paths. With a four-year degree you need 36 months of leading projects plus 35 contact hours of project management education. With a secondary diploma you need 60 months of leading projects plus the same 35 contact hours, which this training provides.

Is the PMP recognised in New Zealand?

Yes. The PMP is recognised in over 200 countries and is widely regarded as the global gold standard of project management certification. In New Zealand it is valued by employers across infrastructure, IT, financial services and government, and it appears in job specifications and procurement requirements.

How long is the PMP certification valid?

The PMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 professional development units (PDUs) across PMI's Talent Triangle within each three-year continuing certification requirements cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMP course fee?

The fee includes PMI-aligned courseware, the 35 contact hours of project management education, practice questions, mock exams, application guidance and learner support, plus a course completion certificate. Request a quote for the format that suits you.

How much does PMP training cost in Auckland?

Training cost varies by format, whether live virtual, classroom or corporate group training. Pricing is available on request, so contact us for a tailored quote. The PMI exam fee is billed separately and is not part of the training price.

Is the PMP exam fee included in the training price?

No. PMI bills the exam fee separately in USD under regional pricing. For reference, the exam is around USD 405 for PMI members and USD 555 for non-members; membership also gives free access to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition. Verify current fees at pmi.org.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts for PMP training?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams, PMOs and departments across Auckland and New Zealand. Contact us for a group quote.

What payment methods and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

    Exam

How long is the PMP exam and how many questions does it have?

The PMP exam has 180 questions and runs for 230 minutes (3 hours 50 minutes), including two 10-minute scheduled breaks. It uses several question types, including multiple choice, multiple response, matching, hotspot and limited fill-in-the-blank.

Which standard and edition is the PMP exam based on?

The exam is based on PMI's current PMP Examination Content Outline and references the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition. Our courseware is aligned to the 8th edition so you study the same standard the exam is built on.

What are the PMP exam domains and their weights?

The updated exam, aligned to the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, covers five domains: Project Management Fundamentals (15%), Predictive, Plan-Based Methodologies (28%), Agile Frameworks (27%), Business Analysis and Strategic Management (18%), and Stakeholder Engagement and Communication (12%).

What is the passing score for the PMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail with domain-level feedback, so aim for broad mastery across all domains rather than a target percentage.

What happens if I do not pass the exam, can I retake it?

Yes. PMI permits up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts at pmi.org before rebooking.

Where can I sit the PMP exam?

You can sit the exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring from home or the office, or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the PMP training?

You will learn to lead predictive, agile and hybrid projects across every performance domain in the current outline: fundamentals, predictive methodologies, agile frameworks, business analysis and strategy, and stakeholder engagement, plus leading people and teams.

Do I need prior experience or can a beginner take this training?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam, PMI requires project leadership experience and 35 contact hours of education. If you are newer to project management, our trainers help you build the concepts and plan your path to eligibility.

Are practice tests, mock exams and assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the current examination content outline, helping you find weak areas and build exam readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest PMP syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to PMI's current PMP Examination Content Outline and the PMBOK Guide 8th Edition, covering both predictive and agile or hybrid approaches as reflected in the exam.

Does the training provide the 35 contact hours I need to apply?

Yes. The programme delivers the 35 contact hours of project management education PMI requires to apply for the exam, and you receive a certificate confirming the hours completed.

How do I enrol in the PMP course in Auckland?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you will receive access to schedules, courseware and learning resources. Contact a learning advisor if you need help choosing a batch.
