Whether you lead governance improvement inside an organisation or advise clients as a consultant, this programme builds the practical, application-level capability the credential validates. Train with Invensis Learning and move from Foundation knowledge to confident programme leadership.

    For Individuals

COBIT 5 Implementation training helps IT governance professionals turn framework knowledge into a practical improvement programme they can plan, run and sustain. The credential suits governance managers, GRC leads, IT auditors and consultants who want to lead change, not just advise on it. Whether you are formalising governance authority in a Dutch bank, driving audit remediation in the public sector, or advising clients from a consulting practice, this training builds capability aligned to real organisational scenarios.

If you already hold COBIT 5 Foundation and want to step up to programme leadership, the intermediate credential is a clear next move. For Dutch organisations under rising regulatory scrutiny, this training creates a consistent way to plan and run governance improvement that senior leaders and supervisors can trust.

IT Governance Pay and Careers in the NetherlandsWhere It Leads

COBIT 5 Implementation has become a practical marker of governance programme leadership across the Netherlands, valued by banks, insurers, consulting firms and public bodies that run large, regulated IT estates. As DORA enforcement and the NIS2 Cybersecurity Act push accountability onto management bodies, employers increasingly want professionals who can plan and lead governance improvement, not just explain the framework. Demand sits from IT Risk and Compliance Manager through IT Audit Manager, Enterprise Architect and IT governance lead, and here is what the market is telling us right now.

IT Governance Pressures Fuelling Demand in the Netherlands

    DORA Enforcement Steps Up

DORA has applied to financial entities since January 2025 and enters its first genuine supervisory enforcement cycle in 2026, with DNB and the AFM reviewing incident reporting and governance, the exact gap this credential closes.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds governance programme skills

NIS2 Puts Boards on the Hook

The Dutch Cybersecurity Act implementing NIS2 was approved in 2026 and makes management bodies responsible for approving and overseeing risk-management measures, driving demand for structured governance leadership.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds accountability and oversight skills

    Compliance Readiness Gap

Industry surveys suggest only about half of in-scope financial institutions expected full DORA compliance by end of 2025, pushing programmes into 2026 and creating a need for people who can assess and lift governance capability.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds current-state assessment skills

    Governance Talent Scarcity

The Dutch market is deep in project and delivery talent but thin in credentialed IT governance leaders. The intermediate level and Foundation prerequisite make holders comparatively rare and sought-after.

COBIT 5 Implementation makes certified leaders stand out

    Strategy-To-Execution Gap

As Dutch enterprises scale cloud, data and AI, boards approve transformation budgets while weak links between strategy and the funded IT mix cause value leakage that governance leaders are hired to fix.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds prioritisation and value skills

    Investment Optimisation Pressure

Cost discipline across financial services and technology pushes organisations to optimise IT investment, retiring low-value work and rebalancing to strategy through disciplined governance improvement.

It is also the natural next step for COBIT 5 Foundation holders moving from framework awareness to practical implementation.

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation before this course?

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

The exam is open book and objective, based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted. It is delivered online proctored through PeopleCert OnVUE or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The paper has 4 questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total. You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All four questions are scored.

    What is the passing score?

The pass mark is 50 percent, meaning you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because the exam is scenario based, deep method knowledge and efficient reference navigation both matter, even though it is open book.

What topics does the exam cover?

Four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle; change enablement; programme management; and continuous improvement. Each area is examined through a scenario-based question aligned to the 2022 syllabus.

What happens if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the COBIT 5 Implementation exam through PeopleCert; the specific re-sit policy and any fee should be confirmed at the time of booking. Our trainers focus on scenario practice and open-book technique to help you prepare thoroughly for your first attempt.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the COBIT 5 Implementation syllabus?

You will learn to apply the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, build a governance business case, lead change enablement, run the improvement programme with proper governance and benefits tracking, and embed continuous improvement, all at application level for realistic organisational scenarios.

What are the seven phases of the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle?

Phase 1: what are the drivers; Phase 2: where are we now; Phase 3: where do we want to be; Phase 4: what needs to be done; Phase 5: how do we get there; Phase 6: did we get there; Phase 7: how do we keep the momentum going. It is designed as a continuous cycle, not a one-time project.

What is the COBIT 5 change enablement cycle?

It is the five-component cycle that runs alongside the implementation lifecycle: awareness and communication, desire and willingness, knowledge, ability, and reinforcement. It recognises that governance improvement is as much a people and culture challenge as a technical one.

What materials and practice are provided?

You receive COBIT 5 aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies illustrating the lifecycle and change enablement, and mock questions mapped to the four topic areas. The training also builds the open-book technique of navigating the permitted reference guides efficiently.

    How is the course delivered?

Invensis Learning delivers this as a 16-hour instructor-led programme, typically over 2 days full-day or 4 days half-day. Formats include online (live virtual) instructor-led training, onsite classroom, and customised corporate group training, so you can choose what fits your schedule.

    Enrollment

How soon can I start and how do I enrol?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website, choose your format, and gain access to schedules and learning resources. See upcoming batches or talk to a learning advisor to pick a start date that suits you in the Netherlands.

What are the requirements to enrol?

You should hold COBIT 5 Foundation before attending, as it is the prerequisite for the Implementation exam. There is no formal education or work-experience requirement, though the level is designed for practitioners who lead or support governance improvement.

    What training formats are available?

We offer online (live virtual) instructor-led training, onsite classroom training, and customised corporate group training. Each covers all four Implementation topic areas at application level and prepares you for the open-book exam.

Can I reschedule or transfer my enrolment?

Yes. Flexi options let you reschedule or transfer to another batch on selected plans. Contact our support team to arrange this.

What is the refund or cancellation policy?

Refunds and cancellations are handled per our published policy, and selected plans include a money-back option. Reach out to our team for the details that apply to your enrolment.
