What is the format of the DevOps Foundation exam?

The DOFD exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination with single-answer questions, based on the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge and current Exam Blueprint. It is delivered online via PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions and you have 60 minutes (one hour) to complete it.

What is the passing score for DevOps Foundation?

The pass mark is 65 per cent, which means answering at least 26 of the 40 questions correctly.

What topics does the exam cover?

Six areas per the Exam Blueprint: DevOps Foundations (16%), DevOps Concepts and Practices (18%), Agile, ITSM and Lean IT (14%), DevOps Continuous Delivery Pipeline (20%), Automation and Tooling (12%), and DevOps Culture and Organization (20%).

Where can I take the DevOps Foundation exam?

Online through PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre. The exam is usually arranged through your training provider as part of a training and exam bundle.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can resit the exam. Our training includes mock exams, practice questions and first-attempt guidance to prepare you thoroughly. Ask us about retake support when you enrol.

Can a beginner take DevOps Foundation training?

Yes. DevOps Foundation is designed as an entry point and needs no prior DevOps experience. The training builds concepts step by step, so beginners and experienced IT staff alike can follow it comfortably.

What will I learn in the DevOps Foundation course?

You will learn DevOps culture and the Three Ways, the CALMS framework, CI/CD and the continuous delivery pipeline, DORA metrics, how DevOps relates to Agile, ITSM and Lean IT, the DevOps toolchain, and DevOps organisation and culture.

How long is the DevOps Foundation training?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered over two full days or four half-days, covering all six exam topic areas of the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge.

You receive DevOps Institute-aligned courseware, industry case studies, practice questions and mock exams to reinforce the concepts and prepare you for the exam.
