COBIT 5 Implementation certification training in Mongolia gives IT governance professionals the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement and programme management skills that employers now expect. The course is built on the COBIT 5 framework (published 2012) and the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version), with the examination delivered by PeopleCert as an open-book paper. You cover the need for a governance framework, the full seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement, then prepare for the four-question, two-and-a-half-hour exam. COBIT 5 Foundation is the prerequisite for the Implementation level. As Mongolia scales its e-Mongolia digital government platform and its banks, telecoms and mining groups tighten IT risk and compliance, demand for people who can raise governance maturity is rising. Train with Invensis Learning and move from Foundation knowledge to a recognised implementation credential with a clear, supported path.

IT Governance Challenges Driving COBIT 5-I Demand in Mongolia

    Digital Government at Scale

e-Mongolia now delivers 1,200+ services across 86 agencies, but scaling this fast demands strategy-aligned governance. COBIT 5-I gives leaders the seven-phase lifecycle to close that maturity gap.

COBIT 5-I builds the implementation lifecycle skills

    Banking IT Risk and Compliance

Mongolia's systemically important banks face tighter Bank of Mongolia oversight of IT risk. Certified governance leaders are hired to embed controls and improve maturity across core systems.

COBIT 5-I builds governance and risk capability

    Mining and OT/IT Convergence

Large mining and energy groups run complex OT and IT estates where weak governance carries real operational risk. COBIT 5-I supplies the structured improvement approach they now need.

COBIT 5-I builds portfolio-grade governance skills

    Weak Business-Environment Maturity

Mongolia ranks strongly on digital economic impact but poorly on business environment, exposing a process-maturity gap that governance improvement programmes are built to fix.

    COBIT 5-I builds continuous-improvement discipline

    Strategy-To-Execution Value Leakage

Boards fund digital transformation, but weak links between strategy and the IT that delivers it cause value leakage that governance leaders are increasingly hired to close.

COBIT 5-I builds prioritisation and value skills

    Scarce Certified Governance Talent

Mongolia has a growing IT workforce but few credentialed governance practitioners. The Foundation prerequisite and applied exam make COBIT 5-I holders rare and sought-after.

COBIT 5-I makes certified leaders stand out

Sources: e-Mongolia and Ministry of Digital Development and Communications; UN E-Government Development Index 2024; Bank of Mongolia; Invest Mongolia (banking and fintech) 2026.

COBIT 5-I is more than a credential. It is the skill Mongolian employers need to turn IT governance from paperwork into results. Join professionals who lead governance improvement at scale. Start your journey today.

    General

Is the COBIT 5 Implementation certification worth it in Mongolia?

Yes. COBIT 5 Implementation is valued by Mongolian banks, telecoms, mining groups and public-sector bodies that are scaling digital services and tightening IT governance. It positions you for IT governance manager, IT risk and head-of-IT roles, where senior governance pay in Mongolia is well above the IT average.

    What is COBIT 5 Implementation?

COBIT 5 Implementation (COBIT 5-I) is the intermediate-level certification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to apply the COBIT 5 approach to plan and lead a governance improvement programme, covering the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

    Who should take this course?

It suits IT governance managers and consultants, IT risk and compliance leads, CIOs and IT directors leading transformation, enterprise architects, and COBIT 5 Foundation holders moving to the intermediate level. It is designed for people who lead or support governance improvement.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is a globally recognised standard for IT governance, and the Implementation certification is delivered by PeopleCert, which operates in over 200 countries. It is recognised by employers worldwide for governance programme leadership, consulting and GRC roles.

What are the prerequisites for COBIT 5 Implementation?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required. Candidates who do not hold Foundation must take and pass it before sitting the Implementation exam, as Foundation knowledge of the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model is assumed throughout.

    Pricing

What is included in the COBIT 5-I course fee?

The fee typically includes aligned courseware, industry case studies, mock exams and practice questions, first-attempt exam guidance and learner support. The PeopleCert exam voucher is usually included in the training package. Request a quote to confirm current inclusions.

How much does COBIT 5 Implementation training cost in Mongolia?

Pricing depends on your chosen format, live virtual, classroom or corporate, and whether the exam voucher is bundled. We quote training in a currency convenient for you. Contact a learning advisor for current pricing and upcoming batches in Mongolia.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

In most packages the PeopleCert COBIT 5 Implementation exam voucher is included, but this varies by plan. Verify whether the voucher is bundled when you enrol. Ask us for a quote and we will confirm exactly what your package covers.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing paper delivered by PeopleCert, based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted during the exam.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 4 questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total, and you have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. Each question is scenario-based and tests application of the framework, not recall.

What is the passing score for COBIT 5 Implementation?

The pass mark is 50 percent, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Because the exam is scenario-based, focus on applying the lifecycle, change enablement and programme management, not just locating text in the books.

How and where do I sit the exam?

You sit the exam through PeopleCert, either via OnVUE online proctoring, which is available around the clock, or at an authorised PeopleCert test centre. You can take it from your home or office in Mongolia with a stable connection.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

Our training includes structured mock exams and first-attempt guidance to help you pass. If a re-sit is needed, PeopleCert re-examination terms apply; confirm the current re-sit policy and fee at peoplecert.org. Ask us about retake support on selected plans.

    Course Content

What will I learn in the COBIT 5-I course?

You will learn to apply the COBIT 5 governance improvement approach across four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, all at application level.

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

The phases are: what are the drivers; where are we now; where do we want to be; what needs to be done; how do we get there; did we get there; and how do we keep the momentum going. The lifecycle is a continuous cycle, not a one-time project.

How long is the training and how is it delivered?

The programme runs for 16 hours, usually across two full days or four half-days. It is delivered live virtual (online), in the classroom, or as customised corporate training for teams, so you can pick the format that fits your schedule.

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation before this course?

Yes. COBIT 5 Foundation is the prerequisite, and its concepts are assumed rather than re-taught. If you do not yet hold Foundation, you will need to complete it before sitting the Implementation exam. We can advise on the right starting point.

Which materials can I use in the exam?

The exam is open book, and only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide. Our training includes practice in navigating both quickly so you use them efficiently under time pressure.
