What Is Value Stream Mapping and Why It MattersUntitledThe One-Day Skill Behind Leaner Operations

Value Stream Mapping Training in Moldova is a one-day, non-certification skills programme that teaches you to draw the complete flow of materials and information needed to take a product or service from concept to customer. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) is a core Lean technique, rooted in the Toyota Production System and popularised by Mike Rother and John Shook in their 1998 guide Learning to See. The course is built for professionals who own real process problems: operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners, quality leads and supply chain specialists. You learn to build an honest current-state map, calculate takt time and lead time, spot the eight wastes of Lean, and design a future-state map that becomes a costed improvement roadmap. Across Moldova's export factories, food processors and logistics operations, the ability to see and remove waste is a skill employers value directly on the job. Start building it with Invensis Learning through hands-on mapping exercises you practise the same day.

What You GainFrom the Value Stream Mapping Course

    For Individuals

    For Individuals

Value Stream Mapping training builds a hands-on capability you use straight away: turning a messy, invisible process into a single clear picture that a whole team can act on. The programme suits operations managers, engineers, Lean practitioners and quality professionals who want to lead real improvement, not just talk about it. Whether you work on a factory line, in a food plant, a warehouse or a service operation, you leave able to map, analyse and redesign the flow of value in your own workplace.

If you want a practical, portable Lean skill that shows up in on-the-job results, VSM is one of the most useful tools you can learn. You gain the confidence to run a mapping workshop, quantify waste and hand leadership a costed roadmap for change.

    • Draw an accurate current-state map of any real process using standard VSM symbols
    • Calculate takt time, cycle time and lead time to size the real problem
    • Spot the eight wastes of Lean and find the true bottleneck fast
    • Design a future-state map that turns ideas into a clear improvement plan
    • Facilitate a Gemba walk and lead a cross-functional mapping session
    • Prioritise Kaizen opportunities by impact and feasibility, not opinion
    • Apply a practical Lean skill on the job with no exam to sit
    • Strengthen your standing for operations, engineering and continuous improvement roles
    For Organizations

    For Organizations

Group Value Stream Mapping training equips a cross-functional team to see and remove waste together. Delivered for a plant, a department or a leadership group, the session turns your own operation into the live case study, so the learning lands on real problems. For organisations under pressure to lift productivity and cut lead time, VSM gives operations, quality and engineering a common method for diagnosing and fixing flow.

If your teams struggle to connect daily firefighting to real efficiency gains, VSM training creates a shared improvement discipline. Everyone leaves able to map the current state, agree the future state and commit to a practical implementation plan.

    • Gives teams a shared visual language for diagnosing process problems
    • Exposes waste, delay and excess inventory across the whole value stream
    • Links shop-floor improvement directly to lead-time and cost reduction
    • Builds internal facilitation capability so improvement is self-sustaining
    • Standardises how sites and departments map and improve their flows
    • Feeds a ready pipeline of prioritised Kaizen and improvement projects
    • Delivered onsite so teams map a real value stream during the session
    • Supports Lean, Six Sigma and operational excellence programmes

Where VSM Skills Take Your Career in MoldovaRoles, Sectors and Demand

Industry Challenges Driving Demand for VSM Skills in Moldova

    Efficiency Pressure in Export Manufacturing

Export plants in Moldova's Free Economic Zones compete on cost and delivery, so hidden waste and long lead times erode margins. VSM is built to expose exactly that.

VSM builds waste elimination and flow skills

    Lean Demands from Automotive Buyers

Tier 1 wiring harness and component suppliers must meet the Lean production standards their European customers expect. Value stream mapping is a core tool for proving flow discipline.

VSM builds current and future-state mapping

Throughput Gaps in Food and Beverage

Food processing and wine remain Moldova's largest industries, where seasonal peaks and perishable stock punish delay. Mapping the value stream reveals bottlenecks and excess inventory to act on.

VSM builds bottleneck and takt-time analysis

    Scarce Continuous Improvement Talent

Many Moldovan operations have strong technical staff but few people trained to facilitate structured improvement. VSM skills make you the person who can lead that work.

VSM makes improvement facilitators stand out

    Operational Excellence for EU Integration

As Moldova deepens integration with European supply chains, buyers expect mature process discipline. Value stream thinking gives teams a shared method for lifting operational standards.

    VSM builds process improvement capability

    Firefighting Instead of Systemic Fixes

Many teams solve the same problems repeatedly because they never see the whole flow. A future-state map turns daily firefighting into a prioritised improvement roadmap.

VSM builds root-cause and roadmap skills

The Practical Skills You Build in This CourseMapping, Analysis and Improvement You Can Apply

Skills covered in Value Stream Mapping training run the full VSM cycle: from reading the value stream and using standard symbols to building the current state, analysing waste, designing the future state and planning improvement. Every skill is practised through hands-on mapping exercises so you leave able to do the work, not just describe it.

    Read the Value Stream

Understand what a value stream is, define value from the customer's view, and separate value-added, non-value-added and necessary non-value-added activity across the flow.

    Apply Standard VSM Symbols

Use the standard symbol set for process boxes, material and information flow, inventory triangles, kanban, data boxes and Kaizen bursts so any team can read your map.

    Build the Current-State Map

Select a product family, walk the process at the Gemba, and capture cycle time, changeover, uptime and inventory to draw an honest picture of how work flows today.

    Analyse Waste and Bottlenecks

Calculate takt time and lead time, find the constraint, test push versus pull, and identify the eight wastes of Lean to target the highest-impact opportunities.

    Design the Future-State Map

Use the eight future-state questions to design continuous flow, pull systems and a levelled schedule, then quantify the improvement against the current state.

    Plan and Sustain Improvement

Turn the future-state map into a Kaizen and implementation roadmap with owners, metrics and standard work so gains hold rather than slip back.

From Lean Theory to Real Improvement

"I came in knowing the Lean words but not how to apply them. Learning to build the future-state map and calculate takt time gave me the confidence to lead our first proper Kaizen event."

Practical and Relevant to My Sector

"Clear, well-paced and hands-on. The trainer used examples close to food processing, which is exactly my world. I now understand how to spot waste and excess inventory across the flow, not just at one step."

    Aligned Our Whole Operations Team

"We ran the corporate session onsite and mapped one of our real value streams as a team. It gave operations, quality and logistics a shared language and a prioritised improvement plan in a single day."

Real Change in How Our Teams Work

"As an L&D lead I needed training that changed behaviour, not just filled a day. The team came back mapping processes on their own and the future-state roadmap has become part of how we plan improvement."

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) training is a one-day, non-certification skills course that teaches you to visualise, analyse and improve the end-to-end flow of materials and information in a process. It is designed for operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners, quality leads and supply chain professionals.

Yes. VSM is a practical, portable Lean skill valued across Moldova's automotive, food, textile and logistics employers, who compete on efficiency. It helps you lead real improvement and stand out for operations, engineering and continuous improvement roles.

VSM is a core Lean technique rooted in the Toyota Production System. It was formalised for wider use by Mike Rother and John Shook in their 1998 guide Learning to See, which established the standard current-state and future-state mapping approach still used today.

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow is helpful, but the course introduces every concept you need in the context of mapping, so beginners and experienced practitioners both benefit.

The programme runs for one day, around eight hours in total. It covers Lean foundations, VSM symbols, current-state mapping, waste analysis, future-state design and implementation planning, with hands-on mapping exercises throughout.

    General

What is Value Stream Mapping training and who is it for?

Value Stream Mapping (VSM) training is a one-day, non-certification skills course that teaches you to visualise, analyse and improve the end-to-end flow of materials and information in a process. It is designed for operations and manufacturing managers, industrial and process engineers, Lean practitioners, quality leads and supply chain professionals.

Is Value Stream Mapping worth learning for my career in Moldova?

Yes. VSM is a practical, portable Lean skill valued across Moldova's automotive, food, textile and logistics employers, who compete on efficiency. It helps you lead real improvement and stand out for operations, engineering and continuous improvement roles.

What framework is Value Stream Mapping based on?

VSM is a core Lean technique rooted in the Toyota Production System. It was formalised for wider use by Mike Rother and John Shook in their 1998 guide Learning to See, which established the standard current-state and future-state mapping approach still used today.

Do I need prior Lean experience to attend?

No. There are no formal prerequisites. Some familiarity with Lean ideas such as waste and flow is helpful, but the course introduces every concept you need in the context of mapping, so beginners and experienced practitioners both benefit.

How long is the Value Stream Mapping course?

The programme runs for one day, around eight hours in total. It covers Lean foundations, VSM symbols, current-state mapping, waste analysis, future-state design and implementation planning, with hands-on mapping exercises throughout.

    Pricing

How much does Value Stream Mapping training cost in Moldova?

Fees vary by delivery mode, whether you enrol as an individual or a group, and the schedule. For current pricing in your preferred format, request a quote and a learning advisor will share the options that fit you.

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six VSM modules, hands-on mapping exercises, learning resources and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. Ask about the exact inclusions for your chosen format when you request a quote.

Do you offer group or corporate rates?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for teams and departments. Group delivery is especially effective because your team maps a real value stream together. Contact us for a tailored quote.

    What payment options are available?

We accept major cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is the training a good investment for a small team?

Yes. Because your team maps a real value stream during the session, the improvement roadmap it produces often pays back the fee quickly through reduced lead time and waste. Ask about group pricing for a tailored quote.

    Course Content

What topics does the Value Stream Mapping course cover?

The course covers six areas: Lean foundations and value stream basics, standard VSM symbols, building the current-state map, analysing waste and bottlenecks, designing the future-state map, and implementation planning to sustain improvement.

Will I get hands-on practice or is it theory only?

You get plenty of practice. Throughout the day you create both a current-state and a future-state map for a realistic operational scenario, so you leave able to run mapping in your own workplace rather than just understanding it in theory.

What Lean concepts will I learn to apply?

You will apply the five Lean principles, the eight wastes of Lean (DOWNTIME), takt time, cycle time and lead time, push versus pull flow, and the eight future-state design questions from Learning to See, all in the context of real mapping.

Can beginners follow the course content?

Yes. The content is structured from foundations upward, so beginners can follow every step while experienced practitioners deepen their technique. The hands-on exercises support all levels through guided practice.

Does the course cover both current-state and future-state maps?

Yes. You learn to build an honest current-state map of how work flows today, analyse it for waste and bottlenecks, then design a future-state map that becomes your improvement roadmap. Both are practised during the day.

    Assessment

Is there an exam for the Value Stream Mapping course?

No. This is a non-certification skills course with no examination. Learning is reinforced through hands-on mapping exercises and group discussion during the day rather than a formal test.

Do I receive a certificate after the training?

Yes. You receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning after finishing the programme. It records your completion of the training rather than a formal external credential, as VSM has no awarding body.

How is my learning checked during the course?

There is no formal assessment. Your understanding is built and checked through the mapping exercises and team activities you complete during the day, where you practise current-state and future-state mapping on realistic scenarios.

Will I be able to map a value stream on my own afterwards?

Yes. By the end of the day you will have practised the full mapping cycle, so you can select a product family, walk the process, draw the current and future state, and build an implementation plan for your own operation.

Does this training lead to a formal qualification?

No. Value Stream Mapping is a skills technique with no awarding body or qualification. You gain a practical, immediately usable capability and a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning that records your training.

    Enrollment

How do I enrol in the Value Stream Mapping course?

You can enrol through the Invensis Learning website. Choose your preferred format, complete payment, and you receive access to the schedule and learning resources. A learning advisor can help you pick the right session.

    What training formats are available?

We offer live virtual instructor-led training (online), classroom training, and customised onsite corporate group training, so you can choose the format that best fits your schedule and location in Moldova.

    How soon can I start?

New public sessions run regularly, and corporate groups can be scheduled around your team's availability. See upcoming schedules or talk to a learning advisor to find the earliest session that works for you.

Can the training be delivered onsite for my team?

Yes. Onsite corporate delivery is available across Moldova and lets your team map one of your real value streams during the session. Contact us to arrange a date and a tailored group quote.

Can I reschedule my session if my plans change?

Yes. Flexi options let you move to another batch on selected plans. Contact our support team and they will help you reschedule to a session that fits.
