Why IT Governance Skills Are in Demand Across Jamaica

    Rising Regulatory Pressure

Jamaica's Data Protection Act and Bank of Jamaica oversight expect demonstrable IT governance, yet many organisations lack a structured way to plan and evidence it, the exact gap COBIT 5 Implementation is built to close.

COBIT 5-I builds governance framework and lifecycle skills

IT Risk in a Growing BPO Sector

The global-services sector now runs data-heavy operations for global clients, raising IT risk and control expectations that certified governance leaders are hired to manage across complex estates.

COBIT 5-I builds control and risk-aggregation skills

    Governance Talent Scarcity

Jamaica has a deep pool of IT and audit professionals but few credentialed governance implementers. COBIT 5-I, with its Foundation prerequisite and application focus, makes holders rare and sought-after.

COBIT 5-I makes certified governance leaders stand out

    Legacy Systems and Digital Change

Banks, insurers and public bodies are modernising core systems and moving to cloud, and weak governance of these programmes causes cost overruns that portfolio-grade oversight helps prevent.

COBIT 5-I builds roadmap and programme management skills

    Strategy-To-IT Misalignment

Boards approve digital and compliance investment, but weak links between strategy and the IT work funded cause value leakage that governance implementers are now brought in to fix.

COBIT 5-I builds goals-cascade and prioritisation skills

    Cyber and Data-Protection Exposure

Growing cyber and privacy exposure across financial services and outsourcing pushes organisations to embed durable IT governance rather than one-off fixes, sustaining control as the environment changes.

COBIT 5-I builds governance and continuous-improvement skills

    Your Jamaica Career Transformation

From Foundation Theory to Governance Leadership

    Your COBIT 5 Implementation Transformation

Jamaica's banking, BPO and public-sector organisations are tightening IT governance under new data-protection rules and modernisation pressure, and employers increasingly separate certified governance leaders from the rest. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

    After COBIT 5-I

Fluent in the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement and programme control

    You earn your COBIT 5-I

    Before

Governance credibility rests on job title, not a recognised credential

    Now you have

A globally recognised COBIT 5 governance credential via PeopleCert

    Before

Stuck at Foundation-level awareness of the framework

    Now you have

A clear route into intermediate governance implementation and COBIT 5 Assessor

    Before

Governance work seen as audit box-ticking

    Now you have

The skills to run measurable, strategy-aligned governance improvement

    Before

Recognition limited to your current employer or sector

    Now you have

A transferable credential valued across Jamaica and worldwide

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing examination based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version). Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted, and questions are scenario-based.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has four questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total. You have two and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it.

    What is the passing score?

You need 50%, that is 40 marks or more out of 80, to pass. Because questions are scenario-based, focus on applying the implementation lifecycle rather than recall alone.

    How is the exam delivered?

Through PeopleCert, either via OnVUE online proctoring available 24/7 or at an authorised test centre. You can sit it from home, office or a centre convenient to you in Jamaica.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can resit the exam; verify the current re-sit policy and fees with PeopleCert. Our mock questions and open-book technique guidance are designed to help you pass on your first attempt.

    Course Content

What topics does the training cover?

Four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, all aligned to the 2022 syllabus.

What are the seven phases of the COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle?

What are the drivers; where are we now; where do we want to be; what needs to be done; how do we get there; did we get there; and how do we keep the momentum going. It is a continuous cycle, not a one-off project.

Can a COBIT 5 Foundation holder take this course?

Yes, and Foundation is required. The Implementation course builds on Foundation by applying the framework to real governance scenarios, so Foundation knowledge is assumed and not repeated.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive syllabus-aligned courseware, industry case studies, mock questions and open-book exam guidance for navigating the COBIT 5 Implementation book and Enabling Processes Guide.

    How long is the training?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, typically delivered over two full days or four half-days, covering all four topic areas at application level.
