What Is Fuelling Demand for Certified Risk Professionals in Kolkata

    BFSI Risk and Compliance Pressure

Kolkata is eastern India's banking hub, home to UCO Bank, Bandhan Bank and the New Town FinTech Hub, where regulatory change and project risk demand professionals who can assess and respond to risk with rigour.

PMI-RMP builds structured risk analysis skills

    IT Services Delivery Risk

TCS, Cognizant, IBM and Wipro run large client portfolios from Salt Lake Sector V. Delivery under uncertainty needs certified risk owners who can spot threats early and protect timelines and margins.

PMI-RMP builds risk response and monitoring skills

    Mega-Infrastructure Complexity

The East-West Metro under-river tunnel and Kona Expressway corridor carry high-consequence risk, demanding structured identification, quantitative analysis and reserve planning at programme scale.

PMI-RMP builds quantitative risk aggregation skills

    Digital and Data-Centre Build-Out

Bengal Silicon Valley Tech Hub and rising data-centre investment raise programme uncertainty, so employers increasingly want practitioners who can plan responses to both threats and opportunities.

PMI-RMP builds threat and opportunity planning skills

    Risk Talent Scarcity

Kolkata's talent pool is deep in PMP project managers but thin in dedicated risk specialists. The PMI-RMP's experience requirement makes credentialed holders rare and sought-after.

PMI-RMP makes certified risk specialists stand out

    Agile and Hybrid Risk Gap

As teams shift to agile and hybrid delivery, many lack risk practices that fit those modes. The current ECO covers predictive, agile and hybrid risk, closing exactly this gap.

PMI-RMP covers risk across all delivery approaches

    General

What is the PMI-RMP certification and who is it for?

The PMI-RMP is PMI's specialist credential in project risk management, recognising expertise in assessing and identifying risks, mitigating threats and capitalising on opportunities. It is designed for risk managers, senior project managers, risk consultants and PMO analysts who specialise in risk on projects and programmes.

Is the PMI-RMP worth it for professionals in Kolkata?

Yes. The PMI-RMP is a globally recognised credential that sets risk specialists apart in Kolkata's growing IT services, BFSI, consulting and infrastructure sectors. Risk manager roles in India average around ₹14.3 lakh, with senior and PMO risk roles paying well above that. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Is the PMP required before the PMI-RMP?

No. The PMP is not a prerequisite for the PMI-RMP. You can apply directly based on your project risk management experience and education. Many PMI-RMP holders also hold the PMP, as the two credentials are highly complementary.

Which standard is the PMI-RMP exam based on?

The exam is based on the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline (ECO) effective January 2022, and draws on the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management and the current PMBOK Guide. This current ECO covers predictive, agile and hybrid risk approaches.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The PMI-RMP is valid for three years from the date of certification. To maintain it, you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Is the PMI-RMP recognised internationally?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the PMI-RMP is recognised by employers worldwide. It is particularly valued in high-risk sectors such as construction, energy, financial services and IT, where formal project risk management is often contractually or regulatorily required.

    Exam

What is the format of the PMI-RMP exam?

The PMI-RMP exam has 115 questions and a duration of 2.5 hours (150 minutes). It is closed book, with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions, delivered via Pearson VUE OnVUE online proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and their weights?

There are five domains per the January 2022 ECO: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI uses a psychometrically determined passing score that is not published as a fixed number. Results are reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback of Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so aim for broad mastery across all five domains.

What are the eligibility requirements for the PMI-RMP?

PMI offers three routes. Set A: secondary diploma plus 36 months of project risk experience in the last 5 years and 40 hours of risk education. Set B: bachelor's degree plus 24 months and 30 hours. Set C: GAC-accredited degree plus 12 months and 30 hours.

What happens if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Re-examination fees apply to the second and third attempts. Our practice questions and mock exams are designed to help you prepare thoroughly for the first sitting.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the PMI-RMP training?

The training covers all five ECO domains: Risk Strategy and Planning, Risk Identification, Risk Analysis, Risk Response, and Monitor and Close Risks. You also learn qualitative and quantitative tools such as the probability and impact matrix, Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees and expected monetary value.

Can a beginner take this course or do I need prior experience?

Anyone can enrol in the training, and it is structured to build understanding step by step. To sit the exam, PMI requires project risk management experience and education under one of its three eligibility sets, and our trainers guide you on meeting those requirements.

Are practice tests, mock exams or assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions and full-length mock exams mapped to the 115-question, closed-book format, plus topic-wise quizzes to help you find weak areas and build exam readiness.

Does this training meet the PMI-RMP education prerequisite?

The 32 contact hours fully satisfy the 30-hour risk education requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree) candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add at least 8 more hours of risk education.

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the PMI-RMP Examination Content Outline effective January 2022 and the PMI Practice Standard for Project Risk Management, covering predictive, agile and hybrid risk approaches.
