Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management. It is worth it because it validates advanced skill in identifying, analysing and responding to project risk, opening specialist roles in Cochin's IT, maritime, energy and BFSI sectors, often with a reported pay premium for certified professionals.

    General

What is the PMI-RMP and is it worth it?

The PMI Risk Management Professional (PMI-RMP) is PMI's specialist certification in project risk management. It is worth it because it validates advanced skill in identifying, analysing and responding to project risk, opening specialist roles in Cochin's IT, maritime, energy and BFSI sectors, often with a reported pay premium for certified professionals.

Who should take PMI-RMP certification training?

It suits project risk specialists, project and programme managers, risk consultants, PMO analysts and professionals in high-risk industries such as construction, energy, IT and financial services who want a globally recognised risk credential.

    Is PMP required before PMI-RMP?

No. PMP is not a prerequisite for the RMP. You can apply directly based on your risk management experience and education, though many holders carry both, as the two credentials are complementary.

Is the PMI-RMP recognised in Cochin?

Yes. As a PMI credential, the RMP is recognised by employers across Cochin and worldwide, and is especially valued on the capital, maritime, energy and transformation projects that carry significant risk.

How long is the PMI-RMP certification valid?

The certification is valid for three years. To maintain it you earn 30 PDUs in risk management topics within each three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

    Pricing

What is included in the PMI-RMP course fee?

The training fee typically includes PMI-aligned courseware, practice questions, mock exams, downloadable risk templates, application guidance, learner support and a course completion certificate with contact hours. The PMI exam fee is billed separately. Request a quote for current pricing.

How much does the PMI-RMP exam cost?

For reference, the PMI exam fee is around USD 520 for PMI members and USD 670 for non-members, billed separately in USD and subject to change. PMI membership can reduce the exam cost, so confirm current fees on pmi.org before applying.

Do you offer group or corporate discounts?

Yes. We offer corporate group training with customised schedules and volume-based pricing for PMOs and delivery teams in Cochin. Contact us for a tailored quote for your team.

What payment and instalment options are available?

We accept major credit and debit cards and bank transfers, and offer instalment options on selected plans. Speak with a learning advisor to choose the option that suits you.

Is the exam fee included in the training price?

No. The PMI exam fee is billed separately in USD under regional pricing and is not part of the training fee. PMI membership can lower the exam cost, so confirm current fees on pmi.org before you apply.

    Exam

How many questions are on the PMI-RMP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 115 questions and you get 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. It is closed book with single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice questions.

What are the PMI-RMP exam domains and weights?

Per the ECO effective January 2022 there are five domains: Risk Strategy and Planning (20%), Risk Identification (20%), Risk Analysis (23%), Risk Response (22%) and Monitor and Close Risks (15%).

What is the passing score for the PMI-RMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed pass mark. The result is determined psychometrically and reported as pass or fail, with domain-level feedback (Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement), so focus on mastery across all five domains.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You get up to three attempts within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Our mock exams and prep support are designed to help you pass on your first attempt, and reexamination fees apply to later attempts.

Where can I take the PMI-RMP exam?

You can take it online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctoring or at a Pearson VUE test centre. Scheduling is done through PMI's portal or the Pearson VUE website.

    Course Content

What topics does the PMI-RMP training cover?

The training covers the five ECO domains: risk strategy and planning, risk identification, risk analysis, risk response, and monitoring and closing risks, plus risk tools such as Monte Carlo simulation, decision trees, probability and impact analysis, and exam strategy.

Do I need prior experience to take this training?

Anyone can enrol in the training. To sit the exam PMI requires risk management experience and education under one of three sets, for example a bachelor's degree with 24 months of project risk experience and 30 hours of risk education, which this programme helps satisfy.

Does this training meet the PMI-RMP education requirement?

Yes. The programme provides the contact hours of risk management education that satisfy the 30-hour requirement for Set B (bachelor's degree) and Set C (GAC-accredited degree) candidates. Set A candidates need 40 hours and should add supplementary study.

Are practice tests and mock exams included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the 115-question format, so you can identify weak areas and build readiness.
