    Your Ireland Career Transformation

From Framework Awareness to Governance Leadership

    After COBIT 5

IT compliance manager roles in Dublin average around €96,000, with governance leadership bands higher

Passed over for roles that list governance implementation experience as preferred

    After COBIT 5

Eligible for senior governance roles across financial services, tech and the public sector

    Today

Comfortable with theory, but employers want proven implementation capability

    After COBIT 5

Confident leading the seven-phase lifecycle and embedding continuous improvement

You earn your COBIT 5 Implementation

    Before

Governance credibility rests on job title rather than a proven method

    Now you have

An intermediate COBIT 5 credential recognised by Irish and global employers

Stuck in analyst-level work with no mandate to lead improvement

    Now you have

A clear route into governance manager, GRC lead and consultant roles

    Before

Familiar with the framework but unsure how to implement it in practice

    Now you have

The skills employers want: lifecycle delivery, change enablement and programme control

    Before

Recognition limited when you change employer or move sector

    Now you have

A globally recognised credential that travels across sectors and borders

"The gap between knowing a governance framework and leading its implementation is what employers now pay for, and the organisations that matter already know it."

The Governance Skills You Will BuildFrom Drivers to Sustained Maturity

This programme builds the applied governance improvement skills the COBIT 5 Implementation exam and real leadership roles expect. By the end, you can plan, deliver and sustain a governance improvement programme in a real organisational setting.

    Make the Case for Governance

Skills covered in COBIT 5 Implementation begin here: identify the business, risk and compliance drivers behind governance improvement, quantify the cost of weak governance, and build a compelling business case that secures executive sponsorship.

    Run the Seven-Phase Lifecycle

Apply the full COBIT 5 implementation lifecycle, from identifying drivers and assessing current capability through target state, roadmap, implementation, outcome evaluation and sustaining momentum, using the goals cascade to prioritise.

    Lead Change Enablement

Apply the five-component change enablement cycle of awareness, desire, knowledge, ability and reinforcement. Run stakeholder analysis, plan communication and manage resistance so governance change actually takes hold.

    Manage the Improvement Programme

Structure and govern the improvement programme: define roles and the programme office, build the roadmap, prioritise initiatives, track progress and manage benefits realisation and interdependencies to keep delivery on course.

    Embed Continuous Improvement

Turn governance from a one-off project into an ongoing discipline. Use assessment results to drive successive cycles, sustain maturity through change, and build in-house capability so the organisation can self-improve.

    Master Open-Book Exam Technique

Navigate the COBIT 5 Implementation book and COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide efficiently under timed conditions, and practise the scenario-based analysis the four-question, open-book exam demands.

Is the COBIT 5 Implementation certification worth it in Ireland?

Yes. It opens roles from IT governance manager to GRC lead.

What is COBIT 5 Implementation and who is it for?

COBIT 5 Implementation is the intermediate-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates the ability to apply the COBIT 5 implementation approach to plan and run a governance improvement programme. It suits governance managers, consultants, GRC leads and COBIT 5 Foundation holders.

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation before Implementation?

Yes. COBIT 5 Foundation certification is the mandatory prerequisite. Foundation knowledge of the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model is assumed and not retaught, so you must hold Foundation before sitting the Implementation exam.

Which standard and syllabus version does the course follow?

The course is based on the COBIT 5 framework and the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version), published by the global accreditation body for IT governance and examined through PeopleCert. It covers the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is the globally recognised standard for IT governance, and PeopleCert operates in over 200 countries. The Implementation credential is valued by employers worldwide for governance programme leadership, consulting and GRC roles, including across Ireland's multinational hubs.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective test paper of four questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total. Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted during the exam.

How long is the exam and what is the pass mark?

You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes). The pass mark is 50%, meaning 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. Questions are scenario-based and require applied judgement, not just recall.

How and where do I sit the exam?

The exam is delivered through PeopleCert, either via OnVUE online proctoring available 24/7 or at an authorised test centre. You can sit it from home or office in Ireland with secure remote proctoring, or at a centre near you.

What topics does the exam cover?

Four topic areas, each a marked question: the need for a governance framework and the implementation lifecycle; change enablement; programme management; and continuous improvement. All are examined at application level using the 2022 syllabus.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can resit the Implementation exam. Retake policy and any fees are set by PeopleCert, so verify the current re-sit terms before booking. Our training and mock exams are designed to prepare you to pass first time.

    Course Content

Can I take this course if I am new to governance implementation?

You should already hold COBIT 5 Foundation, since it is the prerequisite and its concepts are assumed. Beyond that, the course builds implementation skills from the ground up, with case studies and practice that suit first-time programme leads.

What will I learn in the COBIT 5 Implementation course?

You will learn to build the governance business case, run the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, lead change enablement, manage the improvement programme, embed continuous improvement, and apply efficient open-book exam technique.

    How long is the training?

The programme runs for 16 hours of instructor-led training, delivered either as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. It covers all four topic areas at application level.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive courseware aligned to the 2022 syllabus, industry case studies illustrating the implementation lifecycle and change enablement, practice questions and mock exams, plus first-attempt exam guidance.

Is the courseware aligned to the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and references the COBIT 5 Implementation book and COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide used in the open-book exam.
