Governance Pressures Fuelling COBIT 5 Demand in Indonesia

    New Banking Governance Rules

OJK Regulation No. 1 of 2026 sets stricter IT governance, risk and cyber-resilience duties for commercial banks, and Indonesian institutions now need practitioners who can implement governance improvement, not just describe it.

COBIT 5-I builds the implementation lifecycle skills

    Strategy to IT Alignment Gap

Boards fund digital transformation but weak links between strategy and IT investment cause value leakage, the exact gap the COBIT 5 goals cascade and improvement roadmap are designed to close.

COBIT 5-I builds goals-cascade and roadmap skills

    Third-Party and Cloud Oversight

Regulators now demand materiality assessment of IT service providers and electronic-system placement, pushing organisations to govern cloud and vendor risk with a structured, repeatable framework.

COBIT 5-I builds governance and risk enablement skills

    Governance Talent Scarcity

Indonesia has a deep pool of IT delivery and audit staff but few professionals credentialed to lead governance improvement, making COBIT 5-I holders rare and sought-after in Jakarta and beyond.

COBIT 5-I makes certified governance leaders stand out

    Change Adoption Failures

Governance frameworks fail on adoption, not design. The COBIT 5 change enablement cycle equips leaders to manage awareness, desire, knowledge, ability and reinforcement so improvements actually stick.

COBIT 5-I builds change enablement capability

    Audit and Maturity Pressure

Audit findings and digital-maturity assessments demand measurable governance progress, and organisations need people who can baseline capability, set targets and embed continuous improvement.

    After COBIT 5-I

Eligible for senior governance roles across BFSI, consulting, telecoms and the public sector

    Today

Confident in delivery, but employers want proven governance improvement leadership

    After COBIT 5-I

Fluent in baselining capability, designing roadmaps and embedding continuous improvement

    You earn your COBIT 5-I

    Before

Governance credibility rests on job title and tenure, not a proven method

    Now you have

A recognised IT governance credential valued by Indonesian and global employers

    Before

Stuck at delivery or audit level with no formal governance mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into governance manager, consultant and IT director roles

    Before

Familiar with COBIT theory but unsure how to run an improvement programme

    Now you have

The lifecycle, change enablement and programme skills employers need

    Before

Recognition limited when you change sector, employer or country

    Now you have

A transferable credential that travels across sectors and borders

"The gap between knowing COBIT 5 and leading a governance improvement programme is a recognised credential, and the organisations that matter already know it."

What is COBIT 5 Implementation and who is it for?

COBIT 5 Implementation (COBIT 5-I) is the intermediate level of the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates the ability to apply the COBIT 5 approach to plan and manage a governance improvement programme, covering the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement. It suits governance managers, consultants, GRC leads and IT auditors.

Which body owns COBIT 5 and who delivers the exam?

How is COBIT 5 Implementation different from Foundation?

Foundation is a closed-book exam that validates knowledge of the COBIT 5 framework at awareness level. Implementation is an open-book exam that validates your ability to apply the implementation lifecycle, change enablement and programme management to realistic governance scenarios. Foundation is the prerequisite for Implementation.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective-test examination. Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted. Questions are scenario-based, so you need both method knowledge and efficient navigation of the reference material.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 4 questions, each worth 20 marks, for a total of 80 marks, and you have 2.5 hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All four questions are scored.

    What is the passing score?

The pass mark is 50 percent, so you need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available. The four questions map to the need for a governance framework and lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

What are the prerequisites for the exam?

COBIT 5 Foundation certification is required before you can sit the Implementation exam. Foundation knowledge, including the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model, is assumed and not re-taught in Implementation training.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; re-sit policies and fees are set by PeopleCert, so verify current terms at peoplecert.org. Our trainers provide first-attempt guidance, mock exams and practice questions to help you prepare thoroughly.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Implementation training cover?

The course covers four areas at application level: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version).

Can I take this course as a beginner to governance?

You need COBIT 5 Foundation first, as Implementation builds on it. Beyond that, no formal work experience is required, though the level is designed for people who lead or support governance improvement. Our trainers support you throughout with practical, guided learning.

How long is the training and how is it delivered?

The programme runs for 16 hours, typically over two full days or four half-days, delivered online (live virtual), in the classroom or as corporate group training. You choose the format that fits your schedule.

Are practice tests and materials provided?

Yes. You receive aligned courseware, industry case studies, mock exams and practice questions mapped to the open-book exam format, so you can identify weak areas and build readiness.

Is the courseware aligned with the current syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide and the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version), and to the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide used in the open-book exam.
