    What if I do not pass the CSM exam first time?

    Candidates have up to three attempts to pass the CSM exam within 90 days of completing the course. Our training and case studies are designed to help you pass on the first attempt, so most learners clear it comfortably.

    How many questions are on the CSM exam?

    The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions and a time limit of 60 minutes. It is taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you complete the course.

    What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

    The passing score is 74%, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. Broad understanding across all six CSM topic areas is the best way to pass.

    Is the CSM exam open or closed book?

    The CSM exam is open book. You can refer to materials during the online exam, which is taken via the Scrum Alliance portal without a proctor within 90 days of course completion.

    Which standard is the CSM exam based on?

    The exam is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and aligned to the current Scrum Guide (November 2020 edition) by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. Scrum Alliance is the governing body for the credential.

    The programme runs for 16 hours, delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. This meets the Scrum Alliance minimum contact-hours requirement for CSM courses.
