The Pressures Making Lean Skills Essential in French Industry

    Skilled-Worker Shortage

72% of French firms report skills shortages, and over a third of some blue-collar roles will retire by 2030. Lean-capable teams do more with the people they have.

Lean helps teams do more with the people they have

    Reindustrialisation at Speed

France 2030 has committed 38 billion euros across 4,000+ projects. New and reshored plants need Lean ramp-up to hit cost, quality and delivery targets fast.

Lean gives new plants a fast, stable ramp-up

    Margin and Energy-Cost Pressure

High energy and input costs squeeze French manufacturing margins. Waste elimination, 5S and OEE improvement protect competitiveness without heavy new capital.

Lean protects competitiveness without new capital

    Industry 4.0 Without Lean Foundations

Many sites digitise before stabilising flow. Lean provides the standard work and visual management that make Industry 4.0 investment actually pay off.

    Aerospace and Automotive Ramp-Up

Airbus, Safran, Renault and Stellantis are scaling output and supply chains. Their tier suppliers need VSM, kanban and TPM to keep pace and stay qualified.

    Gap Between Delivery and Improvement

Teams firefight daily problems instead of preventing them. Lean and Kaizen shift plants from reactive fixes to systematic, sustainable improvement.

    After Lean

Fluent in VSM, 5S, kanban, OEE and Kaizen to lead measurable improvement

    You build Lean capability

    Before

You react to waste and breakdowns as they happen

    Now you have

A systematic method to find and remove the eight wastes at source

    Before

Improvement depends on individual effort, not a shared system

    Now you have

A common Lean language across production, engineering and quality teams

    Before

Gains fade once a project ends

    Now you have

Standard work and Kaizen habits that hold and compound improvements

What is included in the course fee?

The fee typically includes instructor-led training across all six Lean modules, hands-on tool exercises, course materials and learner support, plus a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning. There is no separate exam fee, as this is a non-certification course.

    Course Completion

Will I receive a certificate after completing the training?

Yes. On completing the one-day programme you receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning, recognising your practical Lean manufacturing training.

Is Lean Manufacturing Training a certification course?

No. It is a practical skills course with no formal assessment or external credential. You gain immediately usable Lean tools and receive a course completion certificate from Invensis Learning.

How is my learning reinforced during the course?

Learning is reinforced through hands-on activities rather than a test: a Gemba waste walk, value stream mapping, a 5S assessment, OEE and kanban calculations, and real manufacturing case studies worked through with the trainer.

What will I be able to do after the training?

You will be able to run a waste walk, build a value stream map, launch a 5S programme, design a kanban pull system, calculate OEE and lead Kaizen improvements on the shop floor, applying the tools directly in your own production environment.

Are the Lean tools relevant beyond manufacturing?

Yes. While the focus is manufacturing, tools such as 5S, Kaizen, value stream mapping and waste elimination transfer to logistics, healthcare operations and other service delivery environments, so learners from many sectors benefit.

    Course Content

What topics does Lean Manufacturing Training cover?

The course covers the Toyota Production System and five Lean principles, the eight wastes (DOWNTIME), value stream mapping, 5S and visual management, pull systems, Kanban and JIT, TPM and OEE, standard work, SMED, Heijunka, Poka Yoke and building a Lean culture.

    How long is the training?

The training runs for one day (8 hours), covering all six Lean modules with hands-on exercises throughout. A half-day format spread over two sessions of four hours is also available, keeping the same total of 8 hours.

Does the course cover the Toyota Production System?

Yes. The course opens with the origins of Lean in the Toyota Production System developed by Taiichi Ohno and Shigeo Shingo, including its two pillars, Just-in-Time and Jidoka, before moving into the practical Lean tools.

Are there hands-on exercises in the training?

Yes. Hands-on exercises run throughout, including waste identification, value stream data collection, a 5S workplace assessment, OEE calculation, kanban quantity calculation and standard work observation, so you practise the tools during the session.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive structured course materials covering the full Lean manufacturing toolkit, along with worked exercises and case study examples. Corporate sessions can use your own production scenarios as case studies for greater relevance.
