How long is the DevOps Foundation certification valid?

DevOps Foundation is valid for three years. You renew it by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities.

Do I need prior DevOps experience to start?

No. DevOps Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Familiarity with basic IT concepts is helpful but not required, which makes it an ideal first DevOps credential.

What if I do not pass the exam first time?

Our training includes practice questions, mock exams and first-attempt guidance to prepare you thoroughly. If you need to resit, the DevOps Institute allows re-examination; confirm the current resit policy and fee before you book.

How many questions are on the DevOps Foundation exam?

The exam has 40 multiple-choice questions to be completed in 60 minutes. It is closed book with single-answer questions, delivered online via PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for the exam?

You need 65% to pass, which is 26 out of 40 questions correct. The exam tests knowledge and comprehension across the six topic areas of the DevOps Foundation Body of Knowledge.

What topics does the exam cover?

Six topic areas: DevOps Foundations, DevOps Concepts and Practices, Agile/ITSM/Lean IT, the DevOps Continuous Delivery Pipeline, Automation and Tooling, and DevOps Culture and Organisation, all aligned to the DevOps Institute Exam Blueprint.

Are there prerequisites to sit the exam?

No. There are no formal prerequisites for the DevOps Foundation exam. Attending accredited training is recommended to prepare, but self-study using the Body of Knowledge is also possible.

How and where do I take the exam?

You sit the 40-question exam online through PeopleCert OnVUE proctoring from home or office, or at an authorised test centre. It is usually arranged as part of your training and exam package.

Can a beginner take this course?

Yes. DevOps Foundation is designed as an entry point with no prerequisites, so beginners and experienced IT staff alike can follow it. The training builds concepts from the ground up with practical examples.

What will I learn in DevOps Foundation training?
