What is the PgMP certification and who is it for?

Is the PgMP worth it for programme leaders in Madrid?

Yes. The PgMP validates senior programme leadership and positions you for roles such as Programme Manager, Head of PMO and programme director. In Madrid these senior roles command strong salary bands, and certified leaders are in demand as enterprises deliver Next Generation EU and Espana Digital 2026 programmes.

Is PMP required before PgMP?

No. PMP certification is not a mandatory prerequisite for the PgMP. However, an active PMP satisfies the project management experience requirement across all three eligibility sets, so PMP holders only need to document their programme management experience.

What is the PgMP panel review?

The panel review is a multi-rater assessment unique to the PgMP. A panel of programme management practitioners evaluates your documented experience and competency. It is a mandatory step in addition to the written exam, and both must be passed to earn the credential.

How long is the PgMP certification valid?

The PgMP is valid for three years. To maintain it, you earn 60 PDUs across the PMI Talent Triangle, with a minimum of 8 PDUs in each area, within every three-year continuing certification requirements (CCR) cycle.

How much does PgMP training cost in Madrid?

What is the format of the PgMP exam?

The PgMP exam is a closed-book, multiple-choice examination based on the PgMP Examination Content Outline and The Standard for Program Management, Fourth Edition. It uses scenario and situational questions across five performance domains, delivered online or at a test centre.

How many questions are on the PgMP exam and how long is it?

The PgMP exam has 170 questions and a four-hour (240-minute) allotted time. It is closed book and uses single-answer and multiple-answer multiple-choice formats.

What are the PgMP exam domains and their weights?

The exam covers five domains: Program Life Cycle Management (44%), Governance (18%), Stakeholder Engagement (16%), Strategic Program Management (11%) and Benefits Management (11%). Program Life Cycle Management carries the greatest weight.

What is the passing score for the PgMP exam?

PMI does not publish a fixed percentage pass mark. The result is determined through psychometric analysis, with domain-level feedback reported as Above Target, Target, Below Target or Needs Improvement, so focus on broad mastery across all five domains.

What happens if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You may take the PgMP exam up to three times within your one-year eligibility period from application approval. Reexamination fees apply to the second and third attempts; confirm the current amounts on pmi.org before you rebook.

Where can I take the PgMP exam in Madrid?

You can take the PgMP exam online through Pearson VUE's OnVUE proctored system, or at a Pearson VUE test centre in Madrid and across Spain. Scheduling is done through Pearson VUE or the PMI portal once your application is approved.

Are there practice tests, mock exams or assignments included?

Yes. The programme includes practice questions, full-length mock exams and topic-wise quizzes mapped to the 170-question exam format, helping you identify weak areas and build exam readiness.

Do I need prior experience to attend the training?

Anyone can attend the training, but the PgMP is a senior credential. To sit the exam you need substantial programme management experience under one of PMI's three eligibility sets, which our advisors can help you assess before you apply.

Will I receive a certificate of completion after the training?

Yes. After meeting the course requirements you receive a course completion certificate along with the contact hours earned through the programme, which support your PMI application and PDU record.

PMI offers three sets. With a secondary diploma: 48 months of project management experience or an active PMP, plus 84 months of programme experience. With a four-year degree: 48 months plus 48 months. With a GAC-accredited degree: 36 months plus 36 months. All experience must fall within the past 15 years.
