Why Observability Skills Are in Demand Across Egypt

    Cloud-First Mandate Raises the Bar

Egypt's cloud-first decree is moving government and enterprise workloads to EG-CLOUD, and reliable cloud operations depend on strong observability that few local teams have yet formalised.

    OBSF builds cloud-native observability skills

    Offshoring Growth and Global SLAs

Egypt's 240+ offshoring firms serve international clients under strict uptime SLAs, so engineers who can instrument, trace and alert on distributed systems are in short supply.

OBSF builds tracing and alerting skills

    Fintech Reliability Pressure

A booming digital-payments sector cannot afford outages, making observability skills central to protecting revenue, meeting regulations and keeping customer trust.

OBSF builds SLI and SLO skills

    From Monitoring to Observability

Many Egyptian teams still rely on basic monitoring and miss unknown unknowns. Observability explains why systems fail, not just when, and that shift needs trained people.

    OBSF closes the monitoring gap

    Kubernetes and Microservices Complexity

As banks, telecoms and startups adopt Kubernetes and microservices, high-cardinality telemetry and distributed tracing become essential and hard to staff for.

    OBSF builds distributed-tracing skills

    Scarce Certified Talent

Egypt has a deep pool of developers but few professionals hold a recognised observability credential, so certified holders stand out to employers hiring for reliability.

OBSF makes certified engineers stand out

The Observability Skills You Will BuildMetrics, Logs, Traces and Beyond

This Observability Foundation programme gives you the concepts and practical skills to make modern systems observable. By the end you can apply the three pillars, set meaningful SLOs, instrument with OpenTelemetry and sit the OBSF exam with confidence.

    Observability Fundamentals

Distinguish observability from monitoring and apply the three pillars (metrics, logs and traces) to understand how modern, distributed systems actually behave in production.

    Metrics, Logs and Distributed Tracing

Work with counters, gauges and histograms, structured logging, and spans with context propagation to trace requests end to end and correlate signals for fast root-cause analysis.

    SLIs, SLOs and Error Budgets

Define service-level indicators and objectives that matter to users, and use error budgets to balance reliability against delivery speed the way mature SRE teams do.

    OpenTelemetry and Telemetry Pipelines

Instrument services with OpenTelemetry and design collection, sampling and routing pipelines that keep high-cardinality observability data useful and cost-effective.

    Alerting and Incident Response

Move from symptom-based alerts to burn-rate alerting, reduce alert fatigue, and run blameless postmortems and retrospectives that turn incidents into learning.

Exam Readiness for the OBSF Credential

Prepare for the 40-question, 60-minute open-book exam with practice questions, mock tests and time-management techniques mapped to the official Exam Blueprint.

Frequently Asked QuestionsHere's everything you may ask...

Observability Foundation (OBSF) is a vendor-neutral credential from the DevOps Institute (PeopleCert) that validates a foundational understanding of observability. It covers the three pillars (metrics, logs and traces), SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, observability tooling and the organisational practices behind reliable modern systems.

It covers the three pillars (metrics, logs and traces), SLIs, SLOs and SLAs, observability tooling and the organisational practices behind reliable modern systems.

Yes. With Digital Egypt, a cloud-first mandate and a fast-growing offshoring sector, employers increasingly need engineers who can keep cloud-native systems reliable. A recognised observability credential helps you stand out for DevOps, SRE and platform roles across Cairo and beyond.

It suits DevOps and platform engineers, SREs, IT operations staff, developers and technical managers who want to formalise their observability knowledge. Familiarity with DevOps or IT operations helps but is not required.

No. Observability Foundation has no formal prerequisites and is open to all. Some familiarity with DevOps concepts or IT operations makes the content easier to absorb, but the Foundation level builds ideas up from first principles.

The credential is valid for three years. You renew it by earning the required Continuing Education Units (CEUs) through DevOps Institute membership and continuing education activities.
