Is the CSM worth it for professionals in Estonia?

Yes. Estonia's fintech, SaaS and mobility employers are scaling agile teams and need Scrum Masters who can facilitate them. Scrum Master roles average around €33,405 a year and rise with experience, and the CSM is a recognised, portable entry point. Talk to a learning advisor to plan your path.

Who should take the CSM course?

The CSM suits aspiring Scrum Masters, developers and testers who want to formalise their Scrum knowledge, project managers moving into agile delivery, and team leads facilitating Scrum teams. There are no formal prerequisites, so it is beginner-friendly.

Which standard is the CSM based on?

The course is based on the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives and the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition by Ken Schwaber and Jeff Sutherland. This is the edition that introduced the Product Goal and simplified the framework.

How long is the CSM certification valid?

The CSM is valid for two years. To renew, you earn 16 Scrum Education Units (SEUs) and pay the Scrum Alliance membership renewal fee within each two-year cycle. SEUs can be earned through courses, conferences, coaching and self-study.

Is the CSM exam fee included in the training?

The online CSM exam is taken through the Scrum Alliance portal after you complete an approved course, and the exam access is typically included in the course fee. We confirm what is bundled when you enrol.

What is the format of the CSM exam?

The CSM exam has 50 multiple-choice questions to complete in 60 minutes. It is open book and taken online through the Scrum Alliance member portal after you finish an approved course. No proctor is required.

What is the passing score for the CSM exam?

The passing score is 74%, which means answering at least 37 of the 50 questions correctly. The course and practice materials are designed to prepare you to pass comfortably.

How many attempts do I get for the CSM exam?

You have up to three attempts to pass the CSM exam within 90 days of completing the course. The exam window opens once your approved course is complete.

Do I need to attend a course before the exam?

Yes. Scrum Alliance requires attendance at an approved CSM course delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer (CST) before the online exam can be accessed. Self-study alone does not qualify you to sit the exam.

What if I do not pass the exam the first time?

You can retake the exam within your 90-day window, with up to three attempts included after course completion. Our trainer guidance, practice questions and open-book format are all designed to help you pass on the first attempt.

Course Content

What topics does the CSM course cover?

The course covers the six CSM topic areas: Scrum Theory and Principles, Scrum Values, the Scrum Team, Scrum Events, Scrum Artifacts and the Scrum Master Role. Together they map the full Scrum framework and the Scrum Master's accountabilities.

Do I need prior experience to take the CSM?

No. The CSM has no formal work experience or education prerequisites, so beginners are welcome. The training builds your knowledge from Scrum theory through to facilitating events, so you can start even if you are new to Scrum.

Is the courseware aligned with the latest Scrum Guide?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the current Scrum Guide, the November 2020 edition, and to the Scrum Alliance CSM Learning Objectives, so you learn the framework as it stands today.

What learning resources are provided?

You receive Scrum Alliance CSM-aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies on facilitation and impediment removal, and practice questions mapped to the online exam format to support your revision.

How long is the CSM training?

The programme runs for 16 hours of instruction, delivered as two full days or four half-days depending on the schedule. This exceeds the Scrum Alliance minimum of 14 contact hours for a CSM course.

How do I enrol in the CSM course in Estonia?
