What Is COBIT 5 Implementation Certification?UntitledYour Route to Leading IT Governance

COBIT 5 Implementation Certification Training in Dominican Republic prepares IT governance professionals to plan and lead a governance improvement programme using the COBIT 5 framework. COBIT 5 Implementation (COBIT 5-I) is the intermediate-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme, sitting above Foundation, and it validates your ability to apply the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement in a real organisational context. The programme is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus, 2022 version, and the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide, with the exam delivered by PeopleCert. Across the Dominican Republic, banks, fintechs, telecoms and government bodies are strengthening IT governance in response to rising cyber-fraud, the new NORTIC A7, A8 and A9 standards and rapid digital transformation, so professionals who can lead governance change are increasingly in demand. You need COBIT 5 Foundation before you sit the intermediate exam, which is open book and scenario based. Delivered in live virtual and corporate formats, this training moves you from study to certified with expert-led guidance from Invensis Learning.

IT Governance Careers in the Dominican RepublicWhy the Demand Is High

COBIT 5 Implementation is valued by Dominican employers that run large, regulated IT estates, from banks and insurers to fintechs, telecoms and government bodies. As cyber-fraud rises, the NORTIC A7, A8 and A9 standards take hold and the state advances its digital reform agenda, organisations need professionals who can lead governance improvement, not just understand the framework. Demand concentrates at governance manager, GRC lead and consultant level, and here is what the market is signalling now.

What Is Driving COBIT 5 Governance Demand Across Dominican Industries

    Rising Cyber-Fraud in Banking

The Superintendencia de Bancos reported 40,800 operational fraud events in 2025 with losses near RD$2,498 million. Banks now need structured IT governance improvement, exactly what the COBIT 5 lifecycle delivers.

COBIT 5 Implementation builds governance and risk capability

    New NORTIC Governance Standards

The NORTIC A7, A8 and A9 standards separate governance, cybersecurity management and technology continuity. Organisations need people who can implement and sustain governance against these expectations.

COBIT 5 Implementation aligns governance to standards

    Fintech Growth Outpacing Controls

With around 90 fintech firms scaling payments, lending and remittances, governance controls often lag growth. Certified governance leaders help close the gap between fast innovation and sound oversight.

COBIT 5 Implementation embeds governance in digital finance

    Public-Sector Digital Reform

The state's digital reform, led by OGTIC and reinforced by the 2026 Red GEALC presidency, demands mature governance across agencies. Programme-grade implementation skills are increasingly sought in the public sector.

COBIT 5 Implementation supports enterprise IT governance

    Nearshore Delivery Complexity

As the Dominican Republic grows as a nearshore delivery hub for cloud and cybersecurity work, clients expect auditable, governed IT. The lifecycle gives teams a repeatable improvement method.

COBIT 5 Implementation brings order to complex IT estates

    Scarcity of Certified Governance Leaders

The local talent pool is deep in project and support roles but thin in credentialed governance implementers. Holding an intermediate governance credential makes you a rare, in-demand hire.

COBIT 5 Implementation makes certified leaders stand out

Sources: Superintendencia de Bancos, CNCS, OGTIC, KPMG, The Fintech Times (Dominican Republic) 2025-2026.

COBIT 5 Implementation is more than a credential. It equips you to lead governance change where Dominican organisations need it most. Join professionals turning framework knowledge into real improvement programmes. Start your journey today.

    Your Dominican Republic Career Transformation

    Where You Stand Today,

And Where COBIT 5 Implementation Takes You

The Dominican IT market is tightening governance in response to cyber-fraud, new standards and digital transformation, and employers increasingly separate certified governance implementers from the rest. Here is which side of that line you want to be on.

Salary capped with limited leverage to negotiate in the local market

    After COBIT 5-I

Governance manager and IT director roles command strong bands, well above general IT pay

    After COBIT 5-I

Eligible for senior governance roles across BFSI, fintech, telecoms and government

    Today

Confident with the theory, but employers want proven delivery

    After COBIT 5-I

Fluent in planning, delivering and sustaining a governance improvement programme

    You earn COBIT 5 Implementation

    Before

COBIT 5 Foundation knowledge but no proof you can lead an implementation

    Now you have

A globally recognised intermediate credential in leading IT governance improvement

    Before

Stuck in audit or support work with no formal governance mandate

    Now you have

A clear route into governance manager, GRC lead and consulting roles

    Before

Framework awareness, but limited experience turning it into change

    Now you have

The applied skills employers want: lifecycle delivery, change enablement and programme control

    Before

Recognition tied to your current employer or one sector

    Now you have

A credential that travels across banks, fintechs, telecoms and the public sector

"The distance between knowing a framework and leading its implementation is a recognised credential, and the organisations that matter already know it."

    General

Is COBIT 5 Implementation worth it in the Dominican Republic?

Yes. With banks tackling rising cyber-fraud, the new NORTIC A7, A8 and A9 standards taking hold and government digital reform under way, Dominican employers increasingly need professionals who can lead IT governance improvement. The credential positions you for governance manager, GRC and consulting roles.

What is COBIT 5 Implementation certification?

COBIT 5 Implementation (COBIT 5-I) is the intermediate-level qualification in the COBIT 5 scheme. It validates your ability to apply the COBIT 5 implementation approach to plan and manage a governance improvement programme, including the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

    Who should take this course?

It suits IT governance managers, risk and compliance leads, IT governance consultants, enterprise architects, and COBIT 5 Foundation holders ready to progress. It is aimed at professionals who lead or support governance improvement in a real organisational context.

Do I need COBIT 5 Foundation first?

Yes. COBIT 5 Foundation certification is the mandatory prerequisite. Foundation knowledge of the five principles, seven enablers and process reference model is assumed and not re-taught in the Implementation programme.

Is COBIT 5 Implementation recognised internationally?

Yes. COBIT is a globally recognised standard for enterprise IT governance, and the Implementation credential is valued worldwide for governance leadership, consulting and GRC roles. PeopleCert delivers the exam across more than 200 countries.

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective test with 4 questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total. Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted. Questions are scenario based and require applied judgment.

How long is the exam and what is the pass mark?

You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete the exam. The pass mark is 50 percent, which is 40 marks or more out of the 80 available.

How and where do I take the exam?

The exam is delivered by PeopleCert, either through OnVUE online proctoring, available 24/7, or at an authorised test centre. You can sit it from home or office in the Dominican Republic with a stable connection.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam; verify the current re-sit policy and any fees on the PeopleCert portal. Our training includes scenario practice and first-attempt guidance to help you prepare thoroughly and reduce the risk of a re-sit.

Which syllabus is the exam based on?

The exam is based on the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus, 2022 version, aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide. It covers the need for a governance framework, the seven-phase lifecycle, change enablement, programme management and continuous improvement.

    Course Content

What topics does the COBIT 5 Implementation course cover?

The course covers four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle, change enablement, programme management, and continuous improvement, plus open-book exam technique.

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

They are: what are the drivers, where are we now, where do we want to be, what needs to be done, how do we get there, did we get there, and how do we keep the momentum going. The lifecycle is a continuous improvement cycle, not a one-off project.

Is this course suitable if I only have Foundation-level experience?

Yes. It is designed as the next step after Foundation. You need Foundation certification to sit the exam, and the training builds your applied skills through scenario-based practice, so prior implementation experience is helpful but not required.

    How long is the training?

The instructor-led programme runs for 16 hours, typically over 2 full days or 4 half-days depending on the schedule. It covers all four topic areas at application level and prepares you for the open-book exam.

    What learning materials are provided?

You receive syllabus-aligned courseware, industry-driven case studies illustrating the lifecycle, change enablement and programme management, and mock questions to build exam readiness.
