IT Governance Assessment Careers in GermanyRoles, Demand and Earning Power

The COBIT 5 Assessor credential has become a strong marker of specialist assurance capability across Germany, valued by banks, insurers, Big Four advisory firms and technology enterprises that must evidence IT governance capability to regulators. As DORA takes full effect and BaFin retires BAIT and VAIT, employers increasingly need professionals who can run formal, ISO/IEC 15504-aligned capability assessments. IT Governance Pressures Fuelling Assessor Demand in Germany

    DORA Compliance Pressure

DORA has been in force across the EU since January 2026, and German financial entities must evidence a mature ICT risk management framework, the exact assurance gap that formal capability assessment closes.

COBIT 5 Assessor builds ICT capability assessment skills

    BaFin Regulatory Transition

BaFin is phasing out BAIT and VAIT toward DORA standards, with full repeal by the end of 2026. Institutions must reassess governance processes against unified controls using evidence-based methods.

COBIT 5 Assessor supports governance reassessment

    NIS2 Widening the Scope

Germany's transposition of NIS2 has expanded the number of organisations under mandatory cybersecurity governance, raising demand for professionals who can measure control capability objectively.

COBIT 5 Assessor helps demonstrate compliance

    Assessor Talent Scarcity

Germany has a deep pool of IT auditors but few qualified process capability assessors. The advanced Assessor qualification makes credentialed holders rare and sought-after in regulated sectors.

COBIT 5 Assessor makes certified assessors stand out

    AI and Cloud Assurance

With the ITAF 5th edition extending assurance to AI, machine learning and cloud, German enterprises need assessors who can apply a structured PAM approach to new technology estates.

COBIT 5 Assessor extends assessment discipline

    Fragmented Control Frameworks

German teams juggle overlapping SOX, ISO 27001, DORA and internal obligations. COBIT 5 assessment provides one consistent, ISO/IEC 15504-aligned way to rate and report process capability.

COBIT 5 Assessor unifies capability measurement

    Exam

What is the format of the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The Assessor exam is an open-book, objective-testing examination based on the COBIT 5 Assessor Exam Syllabus (2024 version). Only the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model are permitted. Questions require specialist analysis and professional judgment.

How many questions are in the exam and how long is it?

The exam has 8 questions, each worth 10 marks, for 80 marks in total. You have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. It is delivered by PeopleCert via OnVUE online proctoring or at an authorised test centre.

What is the passing score for the COBIT 5 Assessor exam?

The pass mark is 50 percent. You must achieve 40 marks or more out of the 80 available to pass. Because the exam is open book and scenario-based, efficient navigation of the permitted materials is essential.

Which books are permitted in the exam?

Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Assessor Guide: Using COBIT 5 and the COBIT Process Assessment Model. No other materials are allowed during the open-book examination.

What if I do not pass on the first attempt?

You can re-sit the exam. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance to reduce that risk, and we support you through re-booking if needed. Confirm the current re-sit policy and any fee with PeopleCert.

    Course Content

What topics are covered in the COBIT 5 Assessor training?

Do I need prior COBIT knowledge to attend?
