What is the format of the COBIT 5 Implementation exam?

It is an open-book, objective-testing exam of four questions, each worth 20 marks, for 80 marks in total. Only the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide are permitted during the exam.

How many questions are on the exam and how long is it?

The exam has four questions worth 20 marks each, giving 80 marks in total, and you have 2 and a half hours (150 minutes) to complete it. All four questions are scored.

What is the passing score?

The pass mark is 50%. You need 40 marks or more out of the 80 available to pass, so aim for broad mastery across all four topic areas rather than a single strong answer.

Which books are allowed in the open-book exam?

Only two references are permitted: the COBIT 5 Implementation book and the COBIT 5 Enabling Processes Guide. No other materials are allowed, so the course includes practice in navigating both efficiently under timed conditions.

What if I do not pass the first time?

You can re-sit the exam through PeopleCert; verify the current re-sit policy and any fee at the time of booking. Our training includes mock exams and first-attempt guidance to help you pass on your first try.

How is the exam delivered?

The exam is delivered by PeopleCert, either through OnVUE online proctoring available 24/7 or at an authorised test centre. You can sit it from home or office in China once your training is complete.

What topics does the COBIT 5 Implementation course cover?

The course covers four topic areas: the need for a governance framework and the seven-phase implementation lifecycle; change enablement; programme management; and continuous improvement, all at application level and aligned to the 2022 syllabus.

What are the seven phases of the implementation lifecycle?

The phases are: what are the drivers; where are we now; where do we want to be; what needs to be done; how do we get there; did we get there; and how do we keep the momentum going. Together they form a continuous improvement cycle rather than a one-time project.

Do I need prior experience or can a beginner take it?

You need COBIT 5 Foundation first, as its concepts are assumed. Beyond that, the course is designed for practitioners who lead or support governance improvement, and it builds practical skills through case studies and scenario-based exercises.

What is the COBIT 5 change enablement cycle?

It is the five-component cycle that runs alongside the implementation lifecycle: awareness and communication, desire and willingness, knowledge, ability, and reinforcement. It recognises that governance improvement is as much a people and culture challenge as a technical one.

Is the courseware aligned to the latest syllabus?

Yes. The courseware is aligned to the COBIT 5 Implementation Exam Syllabus (2022 version) and built on the COBIT 5 framework and the COBIT 5 Implementation Guide.
